Hello all! Me and Mister C hope our new and avid readers with families and friends are going well, staying safe and keeping happy. We are quite aware that it has been almost ten weeks since our last blog (goodness- where has the time gone?). We want to thank everyone for their patience over this difficult and at times, turbulent timeframe. I can report the girls, Mister C, Lochy (part-time) and I are adjusting to our changed lifestyle. We are moving forward in a positive way and are looking to the future. I still have three medicolegal reviews coming up over the next few months, while I am also looking forward to my CTP case finalising in the early-part of next year (fingers crossed). I have been undertaking my Boost Recovery chronic pain sessions (thank you so much C & H) and I am now more aware of how and why chronic pain has affected my mind and body. I am still very limited on what I can and cannot do, but respect my own personal mental and physical limitations each day.
Me and Mister C are happy to report, the Author Alley event through Bookfest at the Goulburn Library was a magical day. We wanted to personally thank all of the wonderful staff who ran the day and kept up the lovely tearoom supplies and plentiful laughs. We had a great day meeting some wonderful local and international authors, including the marvellous Mem Fox and meeting some new and familiar families to share our stories and books. Thanks to Mister C for joining me for half of the day and for the help, TJ for driving us in and to Widy and Lochy for taking us home later that evening. Our Me Poems third poetry book launch was a great success and thank you to everyone who stopped to chat about our books and poetry, it meant so very much to us.
On a bit of a sad note (sorry), we sadly lost our matriarch chook girl, ‘Grumpy Ana’ approximately two weeks ago. We inherited Ana when we bought our property over seven years ago, so we estimated Ana was approximately nine to ten years old- a wonderful innings for a Silky chook. Ana was our last long-standing chook girl in our chook girl clan, who was independent, spirited and at times quite stubborn and grumpy, hence the name ‘Grumpy Ana’. The girls, Mister C and I were able to say our last goodbyes and chook hugs before Ana passed away later that night, in a comfy soft rug in an old wicker basket in our laundry. Rest in peace our sweet (but grumpy) chook girl, now in pet heaven with our other passed sweet chook girls.
A Word From Mister C…
Watching TV in the later evening (mid-last year), I heard Mister C squeal and gasp, then run upstairs. Mister C shouted, “My tooth, Mummy- it’s out! I don’t know how, it just did!” I sat up and looked at Mister C, who was holding his tooth in his left hand. “Wow, my son, that was so quick! It wasn’t wobbly in your mouth for very long at all.” Mister C nodded and replied, “I just bit into a rice cracker and the rotten baby tooth came right out!” I smiled, “Wow. Come closer and show me the tooth and your holey gum.” Mister C came up closer to show me his gum, which was bleeding quite a lot. “Oh, your gum is bleeding, you might need a tissue and to put some pressure on it.” I stood up and went into the kitchen to grab a few tissues and put one firmly on the spot where the hole was in Mister C’s gum. “Why don’t you bite down, that’ll stop it.” Within a minute the bleeding had stopped, “Well done, my son,” I then said to Mister C, smiling, “We’ve been waiting ages for this tooth to come out!” Mister C nodded and looked at his old tooth again, “I know, right? Now the Tooth Fairy will have to come back to our house, tonight- yay!” Both giggled… 🦷🧚
Stay Tuned…
A little housekeeping… I will endeavour to write a short blog each month, which will be mainly focused on my writing and publication work. Please be patient with me, as I am still trying to recover from various procedures and continue to work through my ongoing chronic pain issues, which does limit (and prevent) me from doing a lot of the things I enjoy doing, like writing, illustrating and gardening. I want to thank everyone who has continued to show us support over these past months; however, I also wanted to remind everyone who read our blogs and view our website, that it has been created out of love and through our passion for publishing children’s and poetry books. Our storytelling has always been honest and central to our family; if these themes do not suit you, then please don’t concern yourself with our website.
Exciting news! Me and Mister C will be holding and attending our fun bookstall at the fabulous Lilac City Festival this weekend. It is always a sunny and happy long weekend, filled with rich diverse cultures and festivities in our cherished town. We will be there on Saturday 5th October, from 9am to 4pm. We hope to see some familiar faces and some new ones too. Hugs to all, Me and Mister C… 💓
