Halla… It’s Mister C And Me Here…

Halla! For those who didn’t know, Halla is hello in Swedish, one of our top blog visiting countries, namely Sweden, this week! We love all things Swedish, especially ‘IKEA’, ‘ABBA’ music and movies (Husband’s all-time favourite), Swedish meatballs and warm cinnamon buns with hot coffee known as ‘Fika’. Thank you to all of the readers originating from Sweden, we sincerely appreciate you visiting our website and reading our blogs, as well as everyone else too. According to the ‘Nordic Visitor’, ‘You may be wondering what is Sweden known for? There are countless amazing cultural highlights and well as hidden gems to mention. This includes Swedish food as well as some of the country’s biggest exports. From pop music to design (not only IKEA!) and their cosy coffee culture, but there is also much to discover.’ … https://www.nordicvisitor.com/blog/10-coolest-things-about-sweden

Firstly, Me and Mister C wanted to send our thoughts and care out to PNG (Papua New Guinea), after the horrific landslide that hit the country last Friday. My heart broke after seeing such footage on social media of people trying to dig out survivors and seeing the destruction this awful landslide caused; Mother Nature at her very worst this time. According to CNN, ‘As many as 2,000 people are feared to have been buried by last week’s massive landslide in Papua New Guinea, according to the country’s National Disaster Centre, as survivors recounted the horror losing so many loved ones. The landslide occurred in the mountainous Enga region in northern Papua New Guinea on Friday and the latest missing figure is a sharp rise from earlier estimates.’ … https://edition.cnn.com/2024/05/27/world/papua-new-guinea-landslide-thousands-feared-buried-intl-hnk/index.html

As I try to sit here and write our blog this week, my right ear is quite swollen and pounding; I cannot hear much from out of the ear either (such a strange sensation). Along with my ongoing chronic pain to my neck, right shoulder, hip and lower back (I can really feel it this morning, with the minus one degrees cold snap!) I am struggling with, I presume also an annoying outer ear infection, where my balance has also been affected by this silly affliction. I have to be very careful (even with my trusty purple walking stick) not to topple over, let alone use any stairs. Husband was having a bit of a grumpy morning last Saturday (as we do) and snapped at me to, “Stop complaining!” I didn’t think I had complained more than once about how cold it was that morning and that I couldn’t hear much out of my right ear (not good huh?). I guess that could become quite annoying to family members every day, don’t you think?

These days, I don’t usually complain (or cry) as much about my ongoing issues, but I really dislike having to go to the grocery store (or mall) let alone when it’s really cold outside, mainly due to my chronic pain being exacerbated by the cold weather (don’t ask me why- it just does). I can report, Husband did later apologise to me after driving us to get enough groceries to last at least two weeks (we didn’t kill each other either!), just in time for Husband to travel up to QLD to see his Bro and family for the rest of this week (an early birthday present for Husband). I know it can be hard for loved ones to understand how one’s (chronic) pain works (or the triggers for it); unfortunately, without being able to see one’s pain either, it can be hard to always sympathise. My point being, not everyone is having a happy day, and we all need to remember to be kind (or at least polite) to one another, even if we are not having a good day; I can guarantee the next person is having a far worse day than any of us…

In light of my ongoing issues and ear infection, here is another Word From Mister C instead, to cheer us all up through this chilly day here on our side of the globe… Stay warm and safe everyone!

Getting ready to go on our little trip away overnight with Flossy and Mister C, earlier in the year; Widy unfortunately wasn’t able to make it as she had to work. I had a shower and then asked Mister C to go have one as well. Mister C sighed and then said, “Okay, Mummy. I will go shower then.” Dad walked into the lounge room just as Mister C began to stand up from sitting in the grey recliner chair. Dad smiled and said, “You had a fairly long shower, Love?” I looked up and replied, “Yes, well, I had to try to wash my hair, then shave my legs and armpits! They were beyond ridiculous, really! It is a struggle to do, you know that, Love.” Husband nodded and smiled back, “I should have helped you, sorry, Love.” I smiled back and wondered how Husband could have helped to shave my legs for me in the shower!? Mister C began to walk towards the bathroom and said with a grin on his face, “Can I shave my legs too, Mummy? They’d be so smooth too, I bet!? All laughed, as I shook my head… 🦵🦵

A Word From Mister C…

Husband and I decided to book a nice hotel in ACT for a couple of days, after visiting his parents on Easter Sunday morning (mid-last year). Mister C was humming excitedly in the car as we were driving to our destination (Dad was driving). Mister C sat up in the backseat and smiled, “I wonder where we are going to sleep tonight? Maybe on top of a roof outside!” Flossy shook her head and replied, “No, silly. I bet we will be up high on the top floor building, like a real penthouse!” I looked at Husband and smiled, “Not quite, you guys, but it’s a very nice place and we will be quite up high.” Dad smiled and said, “There’s even a pool on the fifth level! Let’s hope it’s warm enough to go for a swim, if not, maybe the next day then.” Mister C nodded and replied, “I don’t mind, I’d love to go swim on the fifth level. I wonder how all of that water got up there in the first place?” All giggled… 🌊💧

Stay tuned…

Mister C and the family are looking forward to celebrating Husband’s fifty-something birthday coming at the beginning of Wintertime (Saturday-yikkes!), when Husband is back from his sunny trip to QLD (lucky man!). Me and Mister C are also looking forward to attending the fabulous Bungendore Library for our author event and Storytime fun coming up on Wednesday, 13th June 2024. We will be reading our first two books, including, ‘My Great Day Going To The Big School On The Hill’. We are thrilled that after many years (five to be exact), our children’s books are still being read and enjoyed by families and children alike. We are so pleased to be able to read our first books again with another group of pre-schoolers who will be starting school next year. it brings us so much joy! Mister C and I live in a rural town in NSW Australia, with Mister C's Dad and his two big sisters. We have an acreage with an old homestead, that we have been renovating over the past five years (a lot of work!). I am a registered nurse working in private nursing in NSW. I enjoy caring for people in our community, it is a very unique area to live. Mister C is now nine years old now, and is in year four at primary school. He loves super-heroes, building bricks ('Lego'), jumping really high on our trampoline at home and playing with our sweet pets. He has a big imagination and dreams a lot about interesting and funny stuff. We have two sweet doggies named 'Rhetti' and 'Niki', many chickens (lots of names there), three beautiful painted finches, named 'Red', 'Robin' & 'Ruby'. We have many wild animals that like to visit on a regular basis, like 'Bluey' the blue tongue lizard, 'Baby Poss', our resident brush tail possum, our family of king parrots, named 'George', 'Mildred' and 'Gilbert', 'Freddy' our resident green frog and family of noisy magpies, named 'Monte', Maggie', 'Carlo and the new twins. Pastimes for me include painting (anything), reading, illustrating, playing board games with Mister C and the girls, and of course writing (lots of writing!). Without children the world would be a quiet place!...
