Well, Halloo… Me and Mister C here…

Hi there, Me and Mister C want to wish all of our avid readers and new readers (welcome to our blog!) a happy Spring’s day (on our side of the globe). We also wanted to wish all of the wonderful Fathers, Dads, Grandads (that includes you Grandad John!) and Foster and adoptive carers around Australia and beyond, a (little late) very happy Father’s Day for last Sunday. I will take this moment to remember my dear Dad, my treasured fix-it Dad and Husband’s dear father as well (always in our hearts and thoughts). Husband was lucky enough to be able to stay in ACT (again) to catch up with a good friend on Saturday evening. They were able to have a nice dinner and drinks out, then Husband drove home Sunday morning, for lots of Dad hugs with Mister C and us. Husband was pleased to receive a few nice gifts, including of course his favourite – ‘Toblerone’ and some yum homemade cupcakes (decorated by Mister C); we also went out for a lovely afternoon tea at one of our happy local clubs. We love you Husband and Dad! We thank you for all that you do for us all, you are our everlasting rock of strength and happiness (most of the time).

Well over halfway through the school term now; I think there’s about two weeks of term three left (where does the time go?). Widy is very happy to report (and reminds me every day), she has almost finished year twelve-yay! That is like finishing High School for our US friends. With lots of upcoming events to look forward to, including the graduation ceremony, final HSC exams and all important formal, Widy, her boyfriend (hiya L.T) and classmates are extremely pleased to be finally finishing their long school journey. We are super proud of Widy’s efforts and hard work over these last few terms (and previous years as well). Widy’s body of work, art and design projects are amazing; we know she will do her very best over these last (and quite stressful) two weeks.

I can also report, Flossy had an exciting week last week, with her much-awaited year nine ski trip to Jindabyne and Thredbo. Days prior, I assisted Flossy with her itinerary packing and made sure she had packed her long thick socks, ski gloves and goggles for the trip. The kids were due to leave mid-morning on Monday (last week), a long bus trip then ensued to the snowfields- but it well worth it, as reported by Flossy and her school friends. Flossy diligently texted me, letting me know she and her classmates had arrived safely. It did feel quite strange with Flossy not being home over these days and nights. We all missed her, but were really pleased she could enjoy this experience and have many lasting school memories.

On the final day of the trip (I will admit), I did however miss a phone call from two of the high school’s teachers and support officers, who joined the school group (oops and sorry!). Husband (thanks my rock) was able to help with the situation, where Flossy had fallen badly onto her knee and twisted it while on the snow fields skiing. Flossy was taken to the Medical Centre at Thredbo (thanks very much to all) for a precautionary review. Flossy was able to walk and had some minor discomfort, so was allowed to head back to their accommodation for a rest, without requiring any other medical intervention (thank goodness). I was later able to call Flossy and check-up on her, while also have a bit of a chat (phew!). I was super proud of Flossy and her efforts to stay calm in a difficult situation, while also killing it on the snow fields! No broken bones wanted nor needed this week…

Great news, I have finally completed our next seventh book manuscript! Husband has read and made a few edits (thanks as always Husband), Flossy and Widy’s boyfriend agreed to read the stories, while I read the final manuscript with Mister C at bedtime a few days ago. They all enjoyed our stories and it was heart-warming to have the positive feedback and comments. I will be sending the manuscript off to my fabulous editor (thanks heaps) by the end of the week (phew!). I have uploaded another one of our illustrations from the book (of Mister C-of course!). Let us know what you think of these images, your feedback is always welcome. As I am working hard to complete the remaining illustrations for this next children’s book, here is another Word From Mister C instead- enjoy…

Mister C was lying on the couch wrapped up in his favourite soft blanket, watching one of his favourite TV shows. I had asked Mister C to get ready for bed twice already; it was surely getting close to his bedtime. Mister C said, “No yet, Mummy! I need more time to finish watching my show.” I frowned and replied, “In five minutes, my son. Then it’s off to bed!” Mister C nodded and smiled. Five minutes later, I called out, “It’s now time for bed, Mister C. Bed now please!” Mister C moaned and said, “It hasn’t been the full five minutes yet, Mummy. You can’t rush time, you know!” I sighed and caught the cheeky young man and then tickled him, especially on the soles of his feet (where he is the most ticklish). Mister C’s giggles echoed through the happy house… 😆

A Word From Mister C…

Dad was in the kitchen, making his morning coffee and something delicious for Mister C’s brekky. I heard Dad say to Mister C, “I need to set up our new cordless home phone, my son. It will be good to have a new working phone today. I will have to show Mummy, you and the girls how to use it too, don’t you think?” Mister C was lying on the rug near the gas heater “Yes, Dad, but the phone does not look new at all. It looks like a very old Eighties’ weird phone!” Dad laughed, “No way, my son! It’s not a flat mobile. Those old Eighties’ phones had long curly cords coming off them, that would twist around your whole body at the end of your conversation! These old phones weren’t cordless. There was no such thing as cordless phones when Mummy and I were young. Mister C grinned and replied, “Oh, bummer, Dad!” They both laughed… ☎️📞

Stay tuned…

Me and Mister C have our fab book market-stall this Saturday! We hope to see lots of happy faces this weekend. It’s always nice to get out and about in Springtime don’t you think? Just a reminder, we will have all of our children’s books on display and signed author copies available for sale; along with my two new poetry books available as well… I am working hard (when my body allows me to do so) on our book seven illustrations at present. I have completed all of the black and white motif illustrations and have seven colour illustrations remaining to complete (nearly there!). I had an ambitious plan to try (really hard) to complete all of the illustrations before my upcoming hand surgery next week (eek!). Cross fingers I can achieve this plan… I will continue to endeavour to write the next upcoming blog (in a fortnight); I may need to some help with scribing again, but will try my hardest to keep on writing… Stay happy and safe everyone. Hugs Me and Mister C 💕

Mister C and I live in a rural town in NSW Australia, with Mister C's Dad and his two big sisters. We have an acreage with an old homestead, that we have been renovating over the past five years (a lot of work!). I am a registered nurse working in private nursing in NSW. I enjoy caring for people in our community, it is a very unique area to live. Mister C is now nine years old now, and is in year four at primary school. He loves super-heroes, building bricks ('Lego'), jumping really high on our trampoline at home and playing with our sweet pets. He has a big imagination and dreams a lot about interesting and funny stuff. We have two sweet doggies named 'Rhetti' and 'Niki', many chickens (lots of names there), three beautiful painted finches, named 'Red', 'Robin' & 'Ruby'. We have many wild animals that like to visit on a regular basis, like 'Bluey' the blue tongue lizard, 'Baby Poss', our resident brush tail possum, our family of king parrots, named 'George', 'Mildred' and 'Gilbert', 'Freddy' our resident green frog and family of noisy magpies, named 'Monte', Maggie', 'Carlo and the new twins. Pastimes for me include painting (anything), reading, illustrating, playing board games with Mister C and the girls, and of course writing (lots of writing!). Without children the world would be a quiet place!...
