Hi There… Mister C, now a fantastic eleven and Me are back!…

Firstly, Me and Mister C wanted to send out a big THANK YOU! to all of our family, friends and fans, for all of your kind wishes and thoughts given to Me over the past four weeks, since my spinal surgery in late October (on Halloween to be exact!). We also wanted to express our sincere thanks to our Neurospecialist and staff in ACT and all of the wonderful health care staff, kind nurses and expert physio’s who assisted me through my admission, operation and post-surgical hospital stay.

Overall my experience was as good as could be expected (grateful the procedure was not postponed or the like), except the (horrid) post-op pain (was expected) and the fact I was given no choice, but to return back to the two-bedded room where I was pre-op, while waiting for my procedure (early afternoon). Husband was able to speak to the nursing staff and the unit manager of the ward about the ‘noisy’ situation, we soon understood the ward was full to the brim at that time and there was no single room available. I don’t want to sound ungrateful (as I truly am grateful), however, I will admit it was very hard trying to recover next to another (female-thankfully!) person, who was enjoying VERY loud late TV viewing at night (oh no!). I had three different admissions into the room during my four day stay; let’s just say it was noisy, busy and stressful, especially when I had trouble with my waterworks post-op (I won’t go there!). I am hopeful I won’t have to go back to hospital again for a very long time (fingers doubly crossed!)…

Wow! Mister C is now the electrifying number eleven! Again we wish our special young man a very happy birthday for last week! Husband was able to take the day off work (granted annual leave) and Mister C also requested to have the day off school (how could I refuse?). As many know, I was in a very fragile state this time last year (just having had our horrid car accident early October 2022), where I was also in hospital (in ACT) having major neck surgery- which actually went ahead on the morning of Mister C’s birthday, this time last year. So given this, Husband and I decided to make up for the not so happy day that Mister C (and the girls) had without Me home; along with the stress and worry that we were all experiencing, with Me having surgery on Mister C’s birthday and with being away for nearly three weeks from the family and our home (it was awful- but had to be done).

We had also arranged a small party for Mister C and two of his besties (thanks for joining us boys!) at the fun bowling and game arcade in Mittagong (so much fun). Husband drove myself and the boys up for the afternoon (thanks my rock), we had a fun time chatting in the car and enjoyed a game of bowling (I was the silly, encouraging spectator) and lots of tokens to play the arcade games for the afternoon. We share a trio of hot chips, potato gems and wedges, chicken nuggets and tempura calamari (for the adults). It was truly wonderful being back to one of our happy, special places. Husband and I worked out, we had not been to the arcade since Flossy’s fourteenth birthday in May last year (over eighteen months ago!). Hard to believe it has been that long; with all of my surgeries, procedures, scans, appointments and the family’s going-ons, it is but true. It was great seeing the boys having a fun time and spending time together outside of school. It warmed my heart when Mister C came running up to me and gave me a huge hug and said, “I love this place, Mummy! Thanks so much for bring me and my besties- it is awesome and so are you!”

There is much to write about (and catch up on), especially with not posting a blog since 30th October (- how tardy, my sincere apologies), I did want to make mention of our beautiful Widy, who recently graduated year twelve and celebrated their formal last Thursday evening. Widy looked absolutely stunning and her boyfriend (hiya L.T) looked very handsome too. We wanted to say thanks to our wonderful hairdresser, for making up Widy’s hair-do so beautifully and thanks also to Widy’s boyfriend’s friend who agreed to pick-up Widy, drive them to the venue and around in their flash black streetcar- the couple certainly made a grand entrance! Finally, to all of Widy’s school teachers, year adviser and special art teacher (hiya H.W!)- we say a big thank you for all of your support, care and friendships with Widy over the past five years. We look forward to seeing Widy undertake her fab painting and decorating trade starting early January next year.

As I am still slowly recovering from my spinal surgery, this week’s blog will be a shortened version (thanks for your understanding and patience- is very much appreciated). What better way to celebrate these milestones than with another Word From Mister C? Enjoy!…

Mister C was sitting downstairs in his soft grey beanbag, watching some morning TV before school. Dad walked out of the bedroom area and saw Mister C sitting in the rumpus room, all snuggled in his new dark grey, super soft blanket he received from Granny and G-Dad the day prior, as an early birthday gift (thanks heaps!). “Hi, my son,” Dad said, smiling. “Wow, only one more day till you’re the fantastic eleven!” Mister C frowned and looked up at Dad, “I don’t really want to turn eleven anymore, Dad.” Dad looked over to Mister C, “Oh, why not, my son? You’ll will have turn eleven, there’s no going back to ten tomorrow.” Mister C frowned again, “I’m not sure about two one double digits, it does sound really old!” Dad smiled and walked over to Mister C, “You are a sweet and happy ten, I know my son. But, unfortunately we all have to turn a year older, time doesn’t stop for anyone, my son.” Mister C jumped up from his beanbag and gave Dad a big hug, “I hope my birthday year will be a good one, unlike last year.” Dad nodded, “Of course my son, eleven is going to be an excitingly awesome year for you!” Both giggled… 😊💗

A Word From Mister C…

Sitting next to the gas heater early in the cool morning (two weeks ago), Dad and Mister C were chatting about Mister C’s eleventh birthday coming up soon. Dad smiled and said, “Gee, Mister C, soon you’ll be the big eleven, no more low ten!” Mister C grinned and sat up nodding, “Yes, Dad, no more old ten! Soon I’ll be the older and better eleven!”  Dad smiled and replied, “Wow, ten days until no more ten, today!” Mister C jumped up and gave Dad a big squeezy hug. “Wow, I wonder what I’m going to get for turning eleven? I bet eleven rockets to fly around the moon and back eleven times.” Both laughed… 🎂

Stay tuned…

As I am slowly recovering and taking things easy over the next month or so (as I am told to do), we will try to attend our last Rotary market bookstall for the year in mid-December (09.12.23), so we can see all of our bookstall friends and see some new and familiar faces too over this festive season. We do hope to see everyone, and remember we will have some book pack sales for Christmas stocking gifts to share as well. Fingers crossed we shall be receiving our draft front cover of our next Book Seven shortly. Our designer is working hard to get this next book underway (thanks heaps L.F!); hopefully we will be able to share a sneak peak of our new cover in the next coming week or so… Hugs Me and Mister C 💗

Mister C and I live in a rural town in NSW Australia, with Mister C's Dad and his two big sisters. We have an acreage with an old homestead, that we have been renovating over the past five years (a lot of work!). I am a registered nurse working in private nursing in NSW. I enjoy caring for people in our community, it is a very unique area to live. Mister C is now nine years old now, and is in year four at primary school. He loves super-heroes, building bricks ('Lego'), jumping really high on our trampoline at home and playing with our sweet pets. He has a big imagination and dreams a lot about interesting and funny stuff. We have two sweet doggies named 'Rhetti' and 'Niki', many chickens (lots of names there), three beautiful painted finches, named 'Red', 'Robin' & 'Ruby'. We have many wild animals that like to visit on a regular basis, like 'Bluey' the blue tongue lizard, 'Baby Poss', our resident brush tail possum, our family of king parrots, named 'George', 'Mildred' and 'Gilbert', 'Freddy' our resident green frog and family of noisy magpies, named 'Monte', Maggie', 'Carlo and the new twins. Pastimes for me include painting (anything), reading, illustrating, playing board games with Mister C and the girls, and of course writing (lots of writing!). Without children the world would be a quiet place!...
