Well… Hello All! It’s Mister C And Me!

Firstly, Me and Mister C wanted to acknowledge the horrific events that unfolded at Bondi Junction in Sydney on Saturday afternoon (13.04.24). Recently home after attending our fun Rotary market bookstall for the morning and into the early afternoon, Husband and Mister C unpacked some of the car (thanks heaps), then we all changed into our comfy clothes for the rest of the afternoon. I popped my head into Flossy’s room and said, “Hi,” and asked how her day was (Flossy didn’t join us this time). Widy and her boyfriend came upstairs, we had a brief chat and they then went out to grab something to eat together. My lower back, neck and right shoulder were burning after attending the markets, so, I took my pain relief that was due and put the kettle on for a calming Chai Tea and sat down to watch the news.

Within minutes, the news reader stated there was ‘breaking news’, the footage changed and images of the shocking multiple stabbing incident at the ‘Westfield’ shopping complex unfolded before my eyes. Concern turned into shock, then disbelief turned to anger and then frustration. I called out to Husband to come watch the TV and live footage, he walked into the lounge room and was clearly concerned as well. We sat staring in disbelief watching the TV for over an hour. I quickly realized that my sister and one of her family may have gone shopping there at the huge complex; so, I texted my sister to ensure they were all safe. My sister soon replied back, stating they were all fine- phew, that was a huge relief!

Our heartfelt thoughts and sympathies go out to all of the families and communities involved in this horrific incident. It deeply saddens Me and Mister C in how precious life can be taken away in such an instant. If you or a loved one is feeling that your mental health is suffering over this time, or as a result from the events at Bondi Junction, please arrange to speak to someone who will be able to listen and offer support to you; ensure you to do it straight away, don’t wait until your mental health worsens. You never know what may happen round the corner, like with my serious car accident at the end of 2022, for example. We all have things going on in our lives, so we mustn’t presume that we are all coping fine in life. Remember to hug your loved ones and always show your appreciation and kindness towards one another.

Well, Autumn is certainly here, and so is the rain and lots of it! I saw in our rainwater gauge earlier in the week, the line was nearly up to ninety mls! Many areas in Sydney and south-east areas received up to 250mls of rain. My sister and her family residing in the Hornsby area had over 200mls- amazing! It was also sad to see on socials and media, the destruction that the last weekend rainstorms produced. We are also sending our warm thoughts out to the Blue Mountain areas and the Shoalhaven communities in the South Coast areas. With landslides, roads destroyed, trees fallen, dams overflowing, some communities were temporarily trapped by Mother Nature’s destruction. Me and Mister C wanted to also send a shout out to all of the SES and emergency volunteers in our NSW area for all of the continued hard work. We sure do appreciate all that you do to keep our towns and cities free from disasters, the clean ups and those fallen trees (we’ve had our share of those) …

As it is the first week of the school term one holidays, our blog will be a shortened one this week. Given the magnitude of the tragic events at Bondi Junction, we will leave our blog here for now. We will all continue to reflect on the tragic events that unfolded and will spend time with our loved ones. Instead, here is another Word From Mister C to brighten our mood a little. Stay safe everyone…

Mister C came home from school, dropped his school bag on the lounge room floor and gave me a hug (mid-last year). “How was school, my son?” I asked, giving Mister C another squeezy hug. Mister C took off his school shoes and replied, “It was okay, Mummy. There’s only three more days to go until it’s the holidays!” I nodded and said, “Wow, that’s great! Soon you’ll be able to have some pyjama days and have a relaxing time.” Smiling, I continued, “Remember, no funny business though, we all have to get along over these weeks, particularly when it’s quite cold to go outside at present. We know these school holds are the hardest to get through, why don’t we make a plan for what you can do, so you don’t go getting bored.” Mister C nodded his head and replied, “Yes, Mummy. I will write up a list of some of the things I can do this week. I saw a child in a show on TV a couple of weeks ago, this family had nine children in it! The children all got along really well and helped each other. I heard one of the children say to their parents, ‘Be a team to live the dream’. I really thought this saying was cool, Mummy. We are a great team and we are already living the dream.” … 💖

A Word From Mister C…

Mister C had been on the laptop (PC) for quite some time (last year). I asked him to hop off and give his eyes and brain a rest from the screens. Mister C agreed and turned the PC off, he then went straight downstairs and turned the TV on and flopped himself into his soft grey bean bag. I laughed and then called out, “Oh, my son, I did ask you to have a break from screens and that also includes the TV screen too!” Mister C sighed and replied, “Oh, Mummy, I love TV! Do I have to take a break?” I sighed and replied, “Yes, that does, my son!” Mister C stood up and then groaned, “Oh, but, Mummy, I often pause the TV and then close my eyes, giving my eyes a little break. I even close my eyes when the TV is running too; that must be enough?!” …👁️

Stay tuned…

Thank you to all of the wonderful people and families Me and Mister C met at our fun Rotary market bookstall on Saturday. We loved chatting with you all about our books, illustration work, writing and publishing our stories; it was a truly lovely morning. If you have any more questions or want a chat about what we do, in the hope you may create and publish your own children’s book, get in touch with us! Me and Mister C also wanted to send a shout out to Mister C and the girl’s Granddad (fondly named G-Dad), in ACT, who unexpectedly became unwell over the weekend. G-Dad ended up having to spend some time in hospital, but thankfully seems to now be on the mend. We are pleased to know that G-Dad is recovering well and will most likely be discharged home tomorrow from hospital (thank goodness!). We love you G-Dad, and of course our wonderful Granny too! Rest up G-Dad and remember no lifting… 💝

Mister C and I live in a rural town in NSW Australia, with Mister C's Dad and his two big sisters. We have an acreage with an old homestead, that we have been renovating over the past five years (a lot of work!). I am a registered nurse working in private nursing in NSW. I enjoy caring for people in our community, it is a very unique area to live. Mister C is now nine years old now, and is in year four at primary school. He loves super-heroes, building bricks ('Lego'), jumping really high on our trampoline at home and playing with our sweet pets. He has a big imagination and dreams a lot about interesting and funny stuff. We have two sweet doggies named 'Rhetti' and 'Niki', many chickens (lots of names there), three beautiful painted finches, named 'Red', 'Robin' & 'Ruby'. We have many wild animals that like to visit on a regular basis, like 'Bluey' the blue tongue lizard, 'Baby Poss', our resident brush tail possum, our family of king parrots, named 'George', 'Mildred' and 'Gilbert', 'Freddy' our resident green frog and family of noisy magpies, named 'Monte', Maggie', 'Carlo and the new twins. Pastimes for me include painting (anything), reading, illustrating, playing board games with Mister C and the girls, and of course writing (lots of writing!). Without children the world would be a quiet place!...
