Hey Ya’ll! It’s Mister C and Me!

Me and Mister C wanted to use the US (slang) language of hello, hey ya’ll today to celebrate and dedicate this blog to our favourite Great Uncle Bill, who lives in Texas, USA. Our wonderful Uncle Bill turned a fabulous ninety-six just recently! We all wanted to wish our Great Uncle, who is also Uncle to Husband’s Ma (Granny), a wonderful week of birthday celebrations and happiness, with our cherished family in the US. Great Uncle Bill was born in, and grew up in Wichita Falls, Texas. As a teenager, he knew the famous country singer, Willie Nelson. His career as a train driver was all throughout the 1950s and 1960s, where Great Uncle Bill retired in the mid-1970s, driving trains in a few different cities throughout Texas. He visited Husband and his family in London1978 and took Husband and his brothers out to Hyde Park for ice cream, a memory Husband fondly remembers. We are super proud of Great Uncle Bill, who dedicates his life to his wonderful family and his beloved wife Betty, who sadly passed away just over two years ago. Such a true gentleman this dear man is, while also a kind-hearted and humble person, whom we always enjoy spending time with. We miss ya’ll and hope to see ya’ll again sometime soon.

Here’s a link to the newspaper advertisement for Uncle bill’s wedding to his sweet Betty in 1959 (so very special)…

I also wanted to quietly remember my dear dad, who would have celebrated his birthday in early February (always remembered and dearly missed- happy heavenly birthday, my dear dad). I am so pleased I was able to get a sentimental tattoo on my right foot earlier last year (wasn’t painful, as my foot still remains quite numb). As I walk along in my day (or as I should I write, hobble with my trusty walking stick), I can see my Dad’s handwriting on my foot, which says, “Keep smiling- Your Dad.” My amazing Uncle Peter also celebrated his birthday on the same day as my dear dad. I wish my kind and very talented Uncle a belated birthday for earlier in the month as well (I look forward to spending time together on Saturday!). Our hard-working nephew also celebrated his twenty-something birthday last week (happy birthday D.M!); we wish him well with his work and endeavours this birthday year. February is a busy and happy month for us in our family. It is also my favourite and special time of the year too, not just because my birthday happens to be in this month, but the number two (twenty-two to be precise) is my all-time favourite number!

Speaking of birthdays, I don’t really like to admit that my birthday is also coming up (in two days- eek!), however, it is (sadly) a milestone birthday. As said by our zany Mister C, “It’s a really big one!” I don’t wish to say how old I am turning, but, let’s just say, I will be bidding a sad farewell to the forties! hint hint 🙂 … I am sure looking forward to spending time with Husband, the girls and Mister C on my actual day, while also spending quality time with some close family and friends on Saturday afternoon (and possibly through until the golden sunrise!). It’s going to be a gathering glittered with gold and happiness (and quite a few jelly shots infused with just a bit of vodka). Mister C and Flossy will be having sleep-overs with their besties this weekend (thanks everyone), so Husband and our guests can let our hair down just a little bit (sorry we couldn’t have everyone over this time). It may also include a backdrop (photo-booth) of a large, white porcelain free-standing outdoor bath (given to me by my neighbour) filled with gold glitter, cushions and balloons (oh my!)…

Me and Mister C attended our ‘Meet The Author’ event at the fabulous Book Cow bookstore in Kingston, ACT last Saturday. It was a busy time preparing for the event, ensuring we had enough books and what we needed to being for the day. Husband kindly drove Mister C and I down the for afternoon (thanks our rock). Mister C was very helpful and a good host on the day (love you too much Mister C!). Sadly, we didn’t have many numbers booked in to attend the event (we are still not yet well know in ACT), but like the usual good troopers we are, we pushed on and ended up having a nice intimate event, meeting some locals and sharing our books. Thanks to my dearest friend (hiya D.P-B) for coming along, it meant so much having you there on the day. Thanks also to the Book Cow bookstore for having us; we thank you for the great opportunity and hope for another opportunity to wow the crowds later in the year…

As you can imagine, holding gatherings at one’s house requires time and effort to clean up and get things ready (golly gosh!). In light of this, Husband is coming home earlier today to help clean up! So here is another Word From Mister C instead… Enjoy!

Dad was in the kitchen making tea and Mister C came jumping into the room and said, “I love Jimmy Carter, the old US President, Dad! I just saw Mr Carter again on ‘You-Tube’- he is so famous!” Dad looked up and smiled. Mister C giggled and continued, “If Jimmy Carter became the US President again, then he would have to send himself a letter congratulating himself on turning the big one-hundred!” Dad laughed and replied, “Gee, that would be amazing, my son! Jimmy Carter is a great man and was a great President, but, I don’t think he could run again. Remember, my son, don’t ever forget this great man, you are of course named after him!” Mister C smiled and replied, “Well, I’ll have to maybe move to the US then, and work my way up to becoming a good President like Jimmy Carter was!” Dad smiled… 🙃

A Word From Mister C…

Mister C was about to hop into the bath and turned to say (last year), “Oh, Mummy, I need my bath paints that Santa got for me for Christmas.” I looked over to the bathroom sink and saw the three coloured tubes and the big paint brush lying on the bathroom cabinet, near the sink. “I’ll get them for you, my son.” I replied smiling. Mister C nodded, “Thanks Mummy. Oh, I lost my colour palate. Do you have one I can use please?” I looked up and thought for a few seconds, and then replied, “Yes, my son. I have a white plastic palate you can use. I’ll get it for you.” Walking back into the bathroom, Mister C smiled, “Oh, thanks, Mummy. Wow! This is amazing. I’m just like the great, Bob Ross, but in the bathtub!” I laughed and agreed. Mister C then said, I love Bob Ross, just like you, Mummy. I bet he used tomato sauce for the red paint and on his paintings. Can I use some tomato sauce too please?” We both giggled… 👨‍🎨🎨🖌️

Stay tuned…

Me and Mister C look forward to a well-earned rest coming up over the next week or so. I will continue to work on my final draft of my Me Poems Book Three manuscript, so I can submit it to my fab editor in the coming weeks. I look forward to attending the fun Braidwood Show, with Widy and Flossy coming up the following week on Sunday 3rd March (thanks for having me!). I wanted to make mention, Braidwood is a truly lovely place and has so much old-world charm, I can’t resist. We hope to see you all there to support this great town… Hugs Me and Mister C 🧡

Mister C and I live in a rural town in NSW Australia, with Mister C's Dad and his two big sisters. We have an acreage with an old homestead, that we have been renovating over the past five years (a lot of work!). I am a registered nurse working in private nursing in NSW. I enjoy caring for people in our community, it is a very unique area to live. Mister C is now nine years old now, and is in year four at primary school. He loves super-heroes, building bricks ('Lego'), jumping really high on our trampoline at home and playing with our sweet pets. He has a big imagination and dreams a lot about interesting and funny stuff. We have two sweet doggies named 'Rhetti' and 'Niki', many chickens (lots of names there), three beautiful painted finches, named 'Red', 'Robin' & 'Ruby'. We have many wild animals that like to visit on a regular basis, like 'Bluey' the blue tongue lizard, 'Baby Poss', our resident brush tail possum, our family of king parrots, named 'George', 'Mildred' and 'Gilbert', 'Freddy' our resident green frog and family of noisy magpies, named 'Monte', Maggie', 'Carlo and the new twins. Pastimes for me include painting (anything), reading, illustrating, playing board games with Mister C and the girls, and of course writing (lots of writing!). Without children the world would be a quiet place!...
