Hiya! Me And Mister C Are Now Back! …

A BIG hello to all of our avid readers and book fans! Me and Mister C are now back after a small hiatus. Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding, it sure means a lot to us! Well, we hope you are all having a lovely and peaceful day today. After more than two months, today I can say, I finally have the house to myself (is a nice feeling, huh?). The kids went back to school last week on our side of the globe. In our family, we just had two of our three children return back, with Flossy starting year ten and Mister C now in big year six (top of the primary school ladder now!). Widy, now all done, has recently commenced her painting and decorating trade job and is thoroughly enjoying it (apart from her aching muscles!). Flossy mentioned last week, the new year seven’s at her high school looked rather small (short) and Flossy also commented that she thought Mister C was too small to even start high school. I mentioned Mister C still has a whole year before he starts year seven (goodness help us); we both agreed Mister C still has a lot of primary school fun and growing (up) to do.

It has been quite a busy start to the New Year of the Dragon for Me and Mister C. We attended our two wonderful book launches and events at the amazing Dickson Library mid-January (11.01.24) and also at the lovely Gungahlin Library the following week (19.01.24). We were so thrilled and honoured to have been invited, and to have been able to attend our Book Seven launch at the libraries. Both of the events went very smoothly (thanks to some good planning and preparation- I was grateful). We met some lovely children with their carers and families; it was such a pleasure to share and read our books together! I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Husband (always our rock) for driving us and helping to set up, while thanks to Flossy for joining us at the Dickson Library event and of course my offsider, Mister C, for your continued happy demeanour, jokes and laughter. I wanted to also thank Granny and some special friends (thanks D.P-B) for taking time out of their day and joining in the fun. Without my family and close friends, I couldn’t do what I love to do…

Not only did we attend our two fabulous book events, but we also managed to muster up some more energy (don’t ask me how) and attend our fabulous Rotary Market bookstall the following Saturday (13.01.24). Naturally we were all a bit tired, Mister C was a humble boy and came along for a couple of hours to keep me company, which was very nice (thanks my son). We also had a great day and met some happy children and their families. The weather was very kind to us (so thankful- books don’t go well in the rain), the looming storm erupting after we were all home and unpacked at about 2pm (phew!). I also wanted to mention this delightful encounter that happened towards the end of the day at the bookstall…

A young child was upset while walking past our book stall. The child’s family (possibly mother and grandmother) were also with the child trying to console them. I noticed the young child and smiled in their direction, I called out, “Would you like a book to read?” The child looked up at me and walked over to our stall. I handed the child a copy of our fun Book One, Mister C Book Series (‘I Don’t Want To Go To The Big School On The Hill’) and the child’s face turned from sad to instantly happy. I said hi to the child and then said, “Now, perhaps you might like to take this book and go read it under a nice shady tree.” The child nodded and then put the book against their chest and turned to run over to show their family. The family members waved and called out, “Thank you very much!” The parent then proceeded to sit down with the child, and read aloud the whole book together, near a shady tree in the beautiful ‘Belmore Park’, that is right next to our road where the markets are held. Many stall owners (including myself) could hear the words of the story echo across the street, it touched my heart and brought a tear to my eye. It’s not the profits of producing our books that matters, it’s the children who read and enjoy our stories, that means the utmost…💗

There is still lots to write about today, including numerous updates relating to my ongoing pain and health issues with my slow recovery since our car accident (now nearly sixteen months ago). However, I promised to give my dear sister (hiya C.M), who lives in Sydney, an overdue call today. Years ago, we lovingly named our calls, phone ‘coffee chats’, they are an important sister bonding thing to do, that may take a couple of hours… So, instead here are TWO Words From Mister C to brighten your day…

In the pool at our Batemans’ Bay (coast) holiday park bungalow, Dad and Mister C decided to play a game in the water. Mister C nodded his head and climbed out of the pool and ran over to the garden edge. Mister C then picked up something from the garden and ran back over to the poolside, where Dad was waiting. Mister C jumped back into the pool and showed Dad what he had retrieved from the garden. Dad nodded and said, “That is a good one!” I was sitting by the poolside edge, dangling my legs in the warm, clear water. I then asked Mister C what he had in his hand. Mister C looked over and replied, “Oh, hi, Mummy. I have a cool, smooth white rock I found in the garden over there. I am going to play a game with Dad. We called it, find the something in the pool game!” I smiled, nodded, and then watched Mister C splash about for a few seconds. I then watched Mister C throw the rock into the water and hear him comment, “Oh, Dad, I’d better test the rock to see if it will sink first!” All laughed… 🪨

Dad was driving the white car up the ‘Clyde Mountain’, on our way back home, after our fun trip away down the Coast. There was quite a lot of rain sprinkling down everywhere, making the roads a bit wet. I said to Dad from the backseat (where I am most comfortable on longer trips), “Please drive slower up the ‘Clyde’ today, love. The roads are quite wet and the mountain is very misty.” Dad nodded and replied, “Yes, it’s quite misty. I guess that’s why they call this part, ‘Misty Mountain’. Of course, I’ll always drive slowly.” Mister C was sitting in the front seat (bonding time with Dad) and said, “I can’t see much in front of us, Dad. You’d better drive slow, or we could drive right off this dizzy mountain!” Dad smiled, “Oh, that won’t happen, my son. My middle name (for my driving) is Grandma!” All laughed… 😏

A Word From Mister C…

Dad was sitting on the grey recliner in the lounge room, watching TV. Mister C was lying on the large grey and red floor mat, rubbing his knees and lower legs. Mister C groaned and complained of pain in his legs. “My legs hurt real bad, Dad. Can you fix them, please?!” Dad smiled and got up from the recliner chair and knelt down on the floor with Mister C. Dad began to gently rub Mister C’s legs and said, “Yes, good, my son. I am channeling the ‘Maker’s’ energy to your legs for good healing!” Mister C grinned and replied, “Wow, Dad, you must be very powerful to get through all of the layers of fat and bone in my legs. You are super amazing, just like the ‘Maker’!” Dad grinned and continued to gently rub Mister C’s knees and ankles…  🦵🦶

Stay tuned…

Great news! Me and Mister C will be attending our ‘Meet The Author’ event at the fabulous Book Cow bookstore in Kingston, ACT, on Saturday 17th February 2024! (See the above image and link for further info). We are very excited to be attending this special event and thank the Book Cow for supporting and having us on the day. It’s always great to like our events on social media, but by coming along to our event, is what local Indie authors like us need… Wonderful news, Flossy agreed to work again with me, on the illustrations for my third Me Poems poetry book during the school holidays. It was a great opportunity to work together and also spend some quality time too. We completed twenty black and white motifs (phew!) for the book and I am currently working on the second draft of my manuscript; in the coming weeks, I will hopefully send it off to my fab editor to do her magic… 🧡

Mister C and I live in a rural town in NSW Australia, with Mister C's Dad and his two big sisters. We have an acreage with an old homestead, that we have been renovating over the past five years (a lot of work!). I am a registered nurse working in private nursing in NSW. I enjoy caring for people in our community, it is a very unique area to live. Mister C is now nine years old now, and is in year four at primary school. He loves super-heroes, building bricks ('Lego'), jumping really high on our trampoline at home and playing with our sweet pets. He has a big imagination and dreams a lot about interesting and funny stuff. We have two sweet doggies named 'Rhetti' and 'Niki', many chickens (lots of names there), three beautiful painted finches, named 'Red', 'Robin' & 'Ruby'. We have many wild animals that like to visit on a regular basis, like 'Bluey' the blue tongue lizard, 'Baby Poss', our resident brush tail possum, our family of king parrots, named 'George', 'Mildred' and 'Gilbert', 'Freddy' our resident green frog and family of noisy magpies, named 'Monte', Maggie', 'Carlo and the new twins. Pastimes for me include painting (anything), reading, illustrating, playing board games with Mister C and the girls, and of course writing (lots of writing!). Without children the world would be a quiet place!...
