Witam! It’s Me and Mister C…

Me and Mister C say a big Witam (hello) in Polish today! We wanted to acknowledge our highest viewing country on our website, which is Poland this month, and say a big thank you for viewing our blogs and site. The country Poland is a unique part of the world and is known for their hospitability, delicious food, different drinking culture (lots of vodka!), a modern democracy, talented athletes, an amazing football team, complaining, beautiful people, quality music, famous Polish artists and more. According to, ‘Discover Cracow’, “Poles would like to be known as a progressive nation that managed to come out of the 2008 economic crisis relatively unscathed and can now be proud of its steady economic growth. Moreover, the Polish want others to know that their communist past is behind them and today Poland stands strong as a modern democratic country.” https://discovercracow.com/poland-famous-for/

I may have mentioned in one of our previous blogs, that sweet Flossy wanted to set up a Tik Tok account and post some videos also known as Tik-Toks. Well, we now have over five hundred followers on our Tik Tok account and site. Me and Mister C wanted to say a big thank you to all who are following us and thanks for watching our videos too. As an unexpected (but positive) result, we are also having a higher rate of readers and views to this blog site (which we are very pleased about). Flossy was so generous with her time setting the account up (thanks sweet girl); while not knowing what kind of an effect this would have on our current socials and followings, I am super pleased and so grateful that Flossy came up with the idea (originally as a Christmas gift for me). If you haven’t already checked out our Tik Tok account and profile, you can just go to the social media icons on the top of the blog site and click on the Tik Tok icon, it will take you straight to our profile page.

I was privileged to attend the wonderful Braidwood Show last Saturday morning. It was an early start (6am- my alarm blared at me), Widy and her boyfriend agreed to take time out of their weekend and drive me to the event and back home this time (thanks heaps you two!). Mister C wasn’t too keen on having to get up so early, so declined to attend the event this time. I chatted with Husband the month prior to the event and he also declined; understandably, as he couldn’t just drive back home during the day, as Braidwood is over an hour away from our town (too much driving there!). And also of course, we both wanted someone to keep an eye on our zany Mister C! We borrowed Husband’s car (thanks rock) to fit all of the marquee, stall equipment and books in properly. Widy drove us to the event with no problems, lots of potholes though! On driving Husband’s car, Widy called out that it felt very strange to drive an automatic car again. Widy was used to her car being a manual, in which she soon adjusted to having no clutch pedal. Widy and her boyfriend stayed to help set up and also take down my stall and the tables etc, which was a great help- thanks as always (love you both!).

We met some other fun stall owners and chatted about the cooler than usual weather, the event and where the toilet blocks were (is most important!). I realised that I recognised one of the stall owners and recalled their voice. We soon both realised that this person used to work with Husband in the ACT several years ago (hiya M.C!). We took a ‘selfie’ together and I later sent the pic to Husband, who was most surprised, but pleased I was able to catch up with Husband’s former work colleague and her delightful husband. It truly is a very small world. We were both thrilled to have each other to chat with for the whole day (they were also sorry to hear about my car accident and my reliance on my trusty walking stick) – it was a long, but fun and productive day until about 4pm, when we decided to start packing up, due to the weather turning quite bleak (and cold). We met some wonderful families and people from Braidwood and surrounding town areas. I overheard some parents chatting that they were pleased their children were able to participate in some free and fun events, like sack, egg and spoon races and rock climbing (so much fun right?).

I also met a few other budding writers and chatted about my poetry books and writing. I will admit, it did pass the time away chatting about poetry, illustrating and our children’s books. I was thrilled to even sell some copies and chatted about my experiences publishing my two Me Poems books, and my upcoming third book. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stall and for the positive comments about our books- it means so much! I loved handing out balloons to all of the children who walked by as well. I received a heartfelt email later that evening from one particular budding writer; I was touched by the comments and for this person reaching out (thank you!)- that’s what it’s all about, connecting with others and developing support and social networks between alike minds…

A Word From Mister C…

Hearing Mister C muttered something downstairs in the rumpus room, I heard Mister C gasp and say, “Wow! Yay, it’s out!” Running upstairs, Mister C came into my studio room and excitedly said, “Oh, Mummy, look- I just lost my wobbly tooth!” Looking up from my desk, I saw a drop of blood drip out of Mister C’s mouth. I gasped and stood up from my chair, ‘Wow, goodness! Let’s go get you cleaned up.” Walking Mister C into the kitchen, I grabbed a wet wipe and pressed firmly down on his gum, to act as a cold compress and to stop the bleeding in his mouth. All the while, Mister C was tightly holding his baby tooth in his hand. I gave him a tissue to put his special tooth in, so it didn’t go missing.

Mister C was very pleased his tooth had finally come out. I giggled and said, “I think our special Tooth Fairy is going to be visiting our house tonight!” Mister C nodded and said, “Wow, I wonder what I’m going to get for my tooth this time? It’s quite a big, sharp tooth.” Just then, Mister C’s eyes began to glaze over and he started to faint. I quickly caught Mister C as he began to fall. I called out for Dad to help, who quickly came in and pulled a dining chair over; we carefully sat Mister C down. He was pale and clammy, but soon managed to give us a little smile. Mister C put his head down towards his lap and soon picked up. Mister C smiled again and said, “Thanks for catching me, Mummy. I think I saw too much blood- this time my brain didn’t like it!”… We all quietly giggled (and were both relieved Mister C recovered quickly). 🦷

Stay tuned…

Stay tuned for more updates regarding the progress of my third Me Poems poetry book, the manuscript is with my fab editor at present. I look forward to seeing the edit changes and moving forward to completing the storyboard, and my designer working on the draft cover design shortly (is a little exciting!). As a quick medical update relating to my car accident in late 2022, I am due to have a minor procedure at the end of the week. My Orthospecialist and I are hopeful that I may finally have some relief from the ongoing pain and symptoms to my right hip area after the procedure. Me and Mister C are due to attend the Rotary Markets book stall this coming Saturday (fingers crossed I should be alright to attend?!), of course Husband will once again drive us and help set up and take down the marquee and tables etc. After this event, I am hoping for a good rest- my body is not happy and is still groaning in varying severities of pain every single day. I have had to postpone my physio sessions due to the exacerbation of my pain symptoms this past month (apologies all). I noted I have diligently been attending these appointments for over a year now, with little positive outcomes or improvements. I am still engaging in the positive hydrotherapy sessions; I do enjoy the warm water and weightlessness around my body, but not having to get out of the pool to feel my usual weight return and the cool change rooms… Hugs Me and Mister C 💛

Mister C and I live in a rural town in NSW Australia, with Mister C's Dad and his two big sisters. We have an acreage with an old homestead, that we have been renovating over the past five years (a lot of work!). I am a registered nurse working in private nursing in NSW. I enjoy caring for people in our community, it is a very unique area to live. Mister C is now nine years old now, and is in year four at primary school. He loves super-heroes, building bricks ('Lego'), jumping really high on our trampoline at home and playing with our sweet pets. He has a big imagination and dreams a lot about interesting and funny stuff. We have two sweet doggies named 'Rhetti' and 'Niki', many chickens (lots of names there), three beautiful painted finches, named 'Red', 'Robin' & 'Ruby'. We have many wild animals that like to visit on a regular basis, like 'Bluey' the blue tongue lizard, 'Baby Poss', our resident brush tail possum, our family of king parrots, named 'George', 'Mildred' and 'Gilbert', 'Freddy' our resident green frog and family of noisy magpies, named 'Monte', Maggie', 'Carlo and the new twins. Pastimes for me include painting (anything), reading, illustrating, playing board games with Mister C and the girls, and of course writing (lots of writing!). Without children the world would be a quiet place!...
