It was International Women’s Day recently, on Friday 8th March 2024. Mister C said, “Happy International Women’s Day, Mummy. You are the best International woman I know! I hope you have a great and happy day!” I was surprised (but pleased) Mister C knew about this date and unique event and I asked where he knew about it. His response was, “Oh, I saw it on ‘You-Tube’, like everything else. I think it’s a good day to celebrate women, girls and all the Mummy’s around the world too! Thank you for what you do for me, Mummy, I love you!” I laughed, then my heart melted as I gave this sweet young man a big International Women’s Day hug. It is important for us as women in any society to remember, to always feel that we can do anything we put our mind to and be well supported in order to achieve our greatest goals in life…

According to ‘Google’ (thanks the internet!), the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is, ‘Count Her In: Invest in Women- Accelerate Progress‘… “When women are given equal opportunities to earn, learn and lead – entire communities thrive. International Women’s Day is a holiday celebrated annually on March 8 as a focal point in the women’s rights movement. IWD gives focus to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.” https://www.google.com/search?q=international+women%27s+day+2024&rlz=1C1CHBF_en-GBAU1043AU1043&oq

I finally had my right hip (steroid injection) procedure approximately two weeks ago, at the local Imaging centre in town. Thank you to the staff and kind Doctor who assisted in the procedure. I really appreciated all of your kindness, laughs and professionalism during my short time of vulnerability. I am most grateful that I didn’t have to travel to the ACT or worse, Sydney in order to have the procedure conducted. I had however, been most patient waiting for this procedure to eventuate, after waiting nearly ten months since this procedure had been approved by my CTP manager to finally having it done. My pain is still constant, but I was able to roll over in bed onto my right side without experiencing excruciating pain, so I guess that’s something positive right? Only time will tell if the procedure worked well enough, so that I may be able to walk a little better in the coming months (fingers doubly crossed)…

Me and Mister C attended our regular bookstall at the Rotary Markets last Saturday. It was great that husband could drive, and Flossy help us set up and stay with me for the whole day (a big thank you to you both!). It was a great day and finally the weather (Mother Nature) behaved herself; there was not a gust of wind and the sun shone perfectly on us for the entire morning (wow huh?). We loved meeting some wonderful families (that’s what it’s all about), it warmed my heart to see some familiar children’s faces, who recognised our books and came up to our bookstall and said to their parent/carer that they know these books. We enjoy sharing our story books with locals and other families visiting our town, such as Sydney, Newcastle and even Queensland. We are thrilled to be able to also donate some of our books to local schools and teachers, and other parents who also home-school their children. We remain passionate about our books and it has always been our aim to share our books with every child we meet.

Here’s another Word From Mister C … Banter between Mister C and Husband, with some Dad and Mister C jokes that have been circulating the house this past week (fun huh?)…

Dad and Mister C were chatting about some funny things that make each other laugh (I did wonder what these could have been?). Days later, Husband emailed a list home of some funny ‘Dad jokes’, he wanted to tell us and Mister C, to give everyone a laugh. At tea that night while sitting outside on the patio with everyone, including Widy and her boyfriend, we read out some of the ‘Dad jokes’ as follows…

‘I had a taser once. It was stunning’…

‘I tried to take a photo of a wheat field. It turned out quite grainy.’

‘I don’t trust trees. They’re shady.’

‘I wrote a song about ‘Burritos’. It’s a rap!’

What did the bread say to the baker? “You knead me!”

‘When I lose the TV controller, it’s always hidden in some remote destination.’

‘I asked the bus driver, “How long will the next bus be?” He replied, “Same length as this one.”‘

Of course Mister C and Dad laughed the loudest! Mister C looked at Dad and said, “Gee, I like those jokes, Dad. But, I think they aren’t Dad ones, they must be salty codger ones, they are pretty bad! I do like the one joke about the trees, they sure can’t be trusted, like some of our gey gums that have fallen down- dead man’s gums aren’t they called?” Dad laughed and replied, “They sure are, my son. If you are under one of the gums and it falls on you- you’re a gonna for sure!”… 🌳

A Word From Mister C…

Dad was making tea in the kitchen. Mister C called out from the lounge room, “What’s for tea, Dad?” Dad replied back, “The best pasta ever, my son!” Dad asked Mister C to set the dining table; Mister C agreed and then said, “Is Widy having tea? Are there four or five of us tonight?” Dad replied, “Four of us tonight, Widy’s at work.” Later, all sitting at the dining table, Mister C said, “Where’s Widy?” I looked up and replied smiling, “Widy’s doing her usual packing and unpacking work.” Mister C looked surprised and replied, “Oh, is Widy moving out?!” I shook my head and giggled, “No, my son. Widy’s working out the back and doing the goods receiving at work. She’s packing and unpacking there, not here!” Mister C laughed and nodded his head, ‘Oh, I’m glad Widy’s not moving out. Good she’s moving out at work and receiving all the good goods there!” All laughed…📦📦

Stay tuned…

Me and Mister C will be taking a short break over the coming weeks, including the special (early this year) Easter holiday break, before the term one school holidays mid-April this year. We hope everyone who celebrates this Easter tradition has a lovely break and enjoys spending time with family and friends. For other communities and families who celebrate other special events later on in the year, like the Greek Easter coming up at the end of April, we also hope you have a fabulous time. Mister C is certainly keen for the Easter Bunny to hop past our house (me too- I would love some choc right now!). I will be working on the storyboard for my next Me Poems poetry book over the holidays (a bit of time put aside), so my designer can make a start on the interior design of our next book shortly. We look forward to having this next heartfelt project published late-May to early-June, stay tuned… Hugs as always, Me and Mister C🧡

Mister C and I live in a rural town in NSW Australia, with Mister C's Dad and his two big sisters. We have an acreage with an old homestead, that we have been renovating over the past five years (a lot of work!). I am a registered nurse working in private nursing in NSW. I enjoy caring for people in our community, it is a very unique area to live. Mister C is now nine years old now, and is in year four at primary school. He loves super-heroes, building bricks ('Lego'), jumping really high on our trampoline at home and playing with our sweet pets. He has a big imagination and dreams a lot about interesting and funny stuff. We have two sweet doggies named 'Rhetti' and 'Niki', many chickens (lots of names there), three beautiful painted finches, named 'Red', 'Robin' & 'Ruby'. We have many wild animals that like to visit on a regular basis, like 'Bluey' the blue tongue lizard, 'Baby Poss', our resident brush tail possum, our family of king parrots, named 'George', 'Mildred' and 'Gilbert', 'Freddy' our resident green frog and family of noisy magpies, named 'Monte', Maggie', 'Carlo and the new twins. Pastimes for me include painting (anything), reading, illustrating, playing board games with Mister C and the girls, and of course writing (lots of writing!). Without children the world would be a quiet place!...
