Hiya! Now into the second week of our school hols, how are you all juggling the family, work, holidays and housework? Me and Mister C hope you all had a lovely Easter break, and were able to spend some quality time with family and friends (that’s what it’s all about- right?). Mister C was super thrilled to receive a DVD he has wanted for a few months, a paper plane making kit and some new novelty socks from the Easter Bunny this year (as well as a small yum choc egg). In our world, the Bunny tries to give the girls and Mister C gifts they can use, not necessarily gifts they can eat. The Bunny remembers too much of the sweet brown stuff makes for unsettled and grumpy children (thanks Easter Bunny!).
We were able to catch up with Granny and Grandad in ACT (with family) first; a lovely catch up for lunch outside on a great veranda, overlooking a lovely thriving back garden (love you both!). Husband arranged an Easter egg hunt for Flossy and Mister C (Widy was away with her boyfriend). I recall Flossy rolled her eyes and sighed days before, saying she did not want to do and egg hunt this year. However, Flossy enjoyed the hunt and it was great to see these two having fun and giggling together, while looking for those shiny choc eggs. Thank goodness the Easter Bunny always helps to create some fun and silliness, no matter what age or situation we are in…
We had hoped to check in and visit Husband’s Godmother (love you P.K), but this lovely lady was in respite-care over the week and we were sadly not able to see her this weekend. Husband promised to go see his Godmother in the next few weeks with family when able. This dear lady is now in her nineties and is a truly wonderful person, someone Husband and I are very fond of too (as the family are no doubt). We drove to north ACT to check in to our fabulous two-bedroom hotel room for the night. It was a lovely suite, with a great view overlooking Belconnen and surrounds. Husband had booked a nice table at the local club near the hotel; it was great to be able to walk across the road to go have our tea, without the worry of who was going to drive- we all know who that person would have been (thanks husband).
The package included a late check out the following day (12pm-so good!), it was great to have a relax and spend time together (we missed you Widy). After checkout, we were able to catch up with some dear friends (love you D & A P.B). It was fabulous to catch up and see all of the wonderful house renovations that have been accomplished over the past months at their house. We are super proud of you both and sweet doggie ‘Asha’! Several weeks prior, Flossy had wished to go spend time at a really huge mall (I know right!). So, we also decided to take the kids to the massive ‘Belco Mall’ to do a bit of shopping afterwards and have lunch. The kids always loved going to the ‘Bread-Top’ bakery there (sadly not in our town), so we had this treat for lunch (as well as ‘Yoghurt-berry’, -yoghurt shop), it’s the little and often simple things that count in our world right now. Husband could not resist spending at the Asian Grocery Store right outside our hotel. He bought multiple packs of what I think were extra spicy ‘Two-Minute Noodles’, there was only Chinese writing on the packages with a few pictures of chickens and chillies on it (brave Husband). Visiting these places brought back memories of when we lived in ACT- well into our nineth year away now.
It was lovely to do something different over these Easter holiday days. It was great to see Mister C and the girls having some much-needed fun. Unfortunately, the following morning (when home), I woke with severe pain to my right shoulder, neck and right hip. I had obviously done far too much walking (the mall was massive) over these days, suffering from a lot more pain than usual (along with my everyday pain). I was irritable, very tired and felt my mood dropping down again (not good). I loved spending time and doing these events with the family, but I felt instant regret due to the pain I was experiencing. My GP had increased my pain medication, which was helping with my lower back and right hip pain, but another anti-inflammatory had been ceased as well.
It is always a catch twenty-two situation, one half wants to enjoy the movement and events, but the other half knows what may happen if I over-do things. I have now commenced Hydrotherapy sessions (physio in warm water) at our local big Aquatic Centre in town (is wonderful). Naturally, I was very apprehensive about starting the sessions, I haven’t been fully submersed in a body of water since early last year (way before the accident). I wanted to quickly acknowledge the wonderful physio instructor and my usual physio, who are very knowledgeable, gentle and kind (thanks so much).
Now well over a week later, I am feeling a little brighter, but I am still experiencing chronic and ongoing nerve pain (will it ever end?). I was so glad Flossy had something else fun to do (after Easter), with being invited to go camping with her three besties and her friend’s younger sister (twin friends had moved away- but were visiting) down the South Coast for five days (just home yesterday). It was a wonderful experience (a time to cherish) for Flossy (we did miss her though!). Thanks so very much to the wonderful friend’s family (Dad) for all of their driving, work, care, cooking and camping needs -it is so very much appreciated (our turn next school hols).
A Word from Mister C…
The day after our teeth were fixed at our dentist (last year), Mister C commented, “ Gee, Mummy, I was super brave yesterday with the needle to numb my gum.” Nodding, I replied, “Oh, yes, you were so very brave! Dad and I are so proud of you!” Smiling, Mister C replied, “Thanks for staying with me Mummy and for the surprise under my pillow- I love the five-dollar noted and the ‘Milky-Way’ choc bar.” Packing Mister C’s lunch box for school, I commented, “Did you think the needle was how you thought it was going to be, my son?” Mister C looked up and said, “Oh, no. I thought the needle was going to have to go through my front lip and then out the other side!” Giggling, I replied, “Oh, no. The needle went into your gum, where the bad tooth was; you were so brave.” Mister C nodded and added, “Yes, Mummy, I was. Next time I have another tooth fixed, I’ll be so brave, more so than, ‘Super Man’ fighting the bad guys!”… 🦷
Stay tuned…
Me and Mister C wanted to also acknowledge our wonderful designer (thanks L.F), who has been working hard on completing the cover and interior files for my second Me Poems Book Two, before my designer travels overseas for a few months (so lucky). I am very honoured to be able to work with such a wonderful person and creator, and look forward to seeing the completed book files shortly to share with all of you. We wish you all the best for your travels too. I also wanted to wish my dear niece (hiya Z.M) all the very best for her upcoming travels overseas in the next few weeks too; my niece is also a designer working and living (at present) in Sydney. We are so very proud of you and know you will have the most amazing experiences over the next six to twelve months. Have fun, we will miss you…🌍
Stay tuned for more information and a sneak peak look, at our new Me Poems Book Two cover design shortly. We had a wonderful day at the Rotary Stall Markets in Goulburn last Saturday. Thank you to everyone who came up to our stall for a chat and even bought a book or two. Thanks again to husband for all of your help driving, setting up and for taking down our stall (my rock), we couldn’t do it without you (love you long time!). Thanks to Mister C for staying and helping for most of the stall time too (love you).💕
Love to hear of this great family’s comings and goings!!
