A Humble Hello From Me And Mister C…

Hi there, Me and Mister C hope you are keeping safe and well. Sadly, not the case for our family these past two weeks, with Mister C contracting the horrid Covid bugs and then poor Husband too. Now both on the mend and out of their cosy isolation rooms (and area), I am pleased to report, we were able to successfully stop the spread to the girls and myself (a lot of work there). Mister C was naturally quite distraught at the idea of having the bad bugs, but he was very grown-up and listened to the plan of isolation and what he was to expect. He was a very good boy indeed (super proud) and had mild to moderate symptoms. I kept a close eye on him over this initial phase of the virus, making sure he was doing his deep breathing and coughing exercises throughout the day, while walking around his room when he was able. Now feeling much better (and no longer contagious), he has been making up for lost time with eating lots of snacks (did lose some weight sadly) and those wonderful Mummy hugs, while he has been close by my side ever since.

Husband too sadly contracted the same virus bugs from Mister C (wasn’t his fault), as they spent time together travelling in the car and slept together in the same room (separate single beds) earlier, nearly two weeks ago week (at Granny’s unfortunately- sorry folks, we know you are safe and alright- thankfully!). He too had mild to moderate symptoms, with a nasty throat and cough for several days. Now well on the mend, he is now also out of his isolation room (rumpus room) in the house and can shower freely (Husband is cheering at that), but will still wear a mask around us if he still has a cough. It has been a very busy (and stressful at times as you can imagine) time at the house for me (mainly), with lots of cleaning, cooking (frozen meals mainly), running appointments (thank goodness for lists!) and washing, I struggled to attend to before the bugs hit with my good left side (not my bad right side). Flossy was helpful and kept me going with her beautiful smile and laughter (thanks sweetheart), and lots of walks around the block with our sweet doggie. Widy chose to spend the week at her boyfriend’s place to stay away from the bugs, but has been wonderful driving me to some of my booked appointments and getting to the shops to get the essentials: milk, snacks, choc bikkies, frozen meals and toilet paper. We thank her boyfriend and family for having Widy over this difficult time- we are most grateful.

Excitedly (and relieved), we are now packing to head up to Sydney (NSW) for our overseas adventure early tomorrow morning. We are very humbled to still able to safely travel for our trip, the family have been so looking forward to this trip since the end of 2019 (before Covid hit us all the first horrid time). Over this time back in 2019, we arranged new passports for all three children and had to renew ours, but haven’t been able to use them until now. The trip had to be postponed due to the ongoing lockdowns throughout the world and our country. Sadly, Widy is not able to join us this time (we will miss you!), with her ongoing year twelve studies and exams coming up; it was best for her to stay home this time. We appreciate Widy staying home and for her care of our beloved ‘Rhetti’ and pets too (which we will miss too).

As we are busily getting ready for our trip this morning (is always so much to do and pack isn’t there?) and heading away, the blog will be early and will be a shortened version (thanks for your understanding). I wanted to share this little anecdote with all of our avid and devoted readers (thanks!) instead. Stay happy and safe; Me and Mister C will be back giggling again soon…

I was gently walking up the steep hill near our property (usually the whole neighbourhood area) with Flossy and our sweet doggie, ‘Rhetti’, going for a walk together. We had walked more than halfway around the entire area, and we were walking up past the usual trees, houses and power poles, trudging up the last incline up the hill. We both saw an elderly lady with neatly styled silver-coloured hair, holding a wooden walking stick, leaning on the metal letter box near the front of the street. We walked past and I then thought to myself, Is this older lady alright standing there? I noticed this kind-looking lady was slightly slumped over the mailbox and was staring out across the road. I smiled and said, “Hello, are you alright there?” The lady looked up, smiled and waved her hand at both Flossy and I. The lady replied, “Oh, yes. Thank you, I am just checking the mail. It’s a nice day for a walk.” I waved back and stepped forward to keep on walking up the hill, “Yes it is!” was my reply, as I smiled back.

I felt a strange urge to stop walking, check if the lady was okay and to introduce myself. I commented, “I live up past the next street. It is lovely to meet you, may I ask your name?” The lady smiled back and replied, “Oh, yes, my name is Teressa. I live here and I am ninety-six years old!” Flossy and I both giggled and I replied, “Wow! That is wonderful, you are doing very well for your age. How great it is to see you out and about!” Teressa had a big grin on her face and proceeded to drag both of her red and yellow rubbish bins into her driveway, one at a time; walking back over to get the second bin with her walking stick in tow. I stopped to make sure she was okay and wasn’t going to fall over (heaven forbid) or anything nasty was going to happen to this dear lady. Flossy gave me that look and waved her arm at me and indicated to move on as I was staring. I was completely mesmerised by this wonderful, grand lady pulling these large garbage bins in by herself. Being a registered nurse and previously worked in aged care prior to our car accident, I felt a sense of duty to instantly support this older person in our community; but having written this, the lady did not need any help at all! I felt relief and admiration, and at the same time sadness for my situation, for needing a lot of help to get things done around the house, including wheeling out our heavy rubbish bins… ❤️🗑️

A Word from Mister C…

Mister C was sitting downstairs in the rumpus room watching TV, he called out, “Hey, Mummy, what’s for tea? Can I have my favourite noodles tonight?” Looking up from the laptop in the study, I called back, “Yes, my son. It’s only us tonight, remember. Widy’s at work and Dad with Flossy are in ACT, staying at Granny’s house.” Mister C called back, “Okay, Mummy.” Later on, I prepared the noodles for Mister C and served it into a bowl. I called out that his tea was ready, and Mister C came upstairs. I served Mister C his bowl of noodles with a bread roll. Mister C put his face down towards the bowl and sniffed deeply, then sighed, “Oh, I love the smell of my beef noodles, Mummy!” He then turned his head to the side, his ear down towards the bowl, “Gee, I also love the sound of my favourite noodles, it’s very satisfying. It sounds like popping candy, it’s so good!” Laughing, I replied, “Oh, my son, you’re so funny.” Both giggled… 🍜

Stay tuned…

We look forward to finishing the packing and to travel up to Sydney, NSW this afternoon. We’ll be staying overnight in a cheerful hotel near the airport, in order to catch our quite early plane tomorrow morning across the seas to our glorious island destination. We are excited that Flossy will be celebrating her fifteenth birthday while we are away too, not to mention it will be the King’s Coronation the same day (a little more exciting)! We look forward to sharing the good and bad stories from our trip over the coming weeks. It’s a long time coming after all the issues with Covid lockdowns and flight restrictions, but hopefully our turn has now finally come… We also look forward to a few book readings and stall events coming up in this lovely month of May. Our second Me Poems Book Two is now complete and the files have been sent to our Printer (thanks all!). We look forward to sharing this special new book very soon… Hugs Me and Mister C💕

Mister C and I live in a rural town in NSW Australia, with Mister C's Dad and his two big sisters. We have an acreage with an old homestead, that we have been renovating over the past five years (a lot of work!). I am a registered nurse working in private nursing in NSW. I enjoy caring for people in our community, it is a very unique area to live. Mister C is now nine years old now, and is in year four at primary school. He loves super-heroes, building bricks ('Lego'), jumping really high on our trampoline at home and playing with our sweet pets. He has a big imagination and dreams a lot about interesting and funny stuff. We have two sweet doggies named 'Rhetti' and 'Niki', many chickens (lots of names there), three beautiful painted finches, named 'Red', 'Robin' & 'Ruby'. We have many wild animals that like to visit on a regular basis, like 'Bluey' the blue tongue lizard, 'Baby Poss', our resident brush tail possum, our family of king parrots, named 'George', 'Mildred' and 'Gilbert', 'Freddy' our resident green frog and family of noisy magpies, named 'Monte', Maggie', 'Carlo and the new twins. Pastimes for me include painting (anything), reading, illustrating, playing board games with Mister C and the girls, and of course writing (lots of writing!). Without children the world would be a quiet place!...
