Hi all, it’s Mister C and Me…

Hello from our chilly part of the world at present. We hope you and your loved ones are staying warm and positive, while also spending some quality time together, to get through this already bitterly cold start to our Winter wonder time. Last Sunday night we experienced some more crazy volatile weather, with a brief- but very loud storm early in the morning. The storm woke Mister C up first, who came racing downstairs and hid in our bed at approximately 3am (very early). The storm (and Mister C’s scared noises) also woke Husband and I up, where I quickly ran upstairs to ensure the metal roof was still stuck down (it was so loud). Flossy then came out of her room, rubbing her eyes and peered outside too. At that moment, I let out a loud noise of delight and we both realised that it was actually snowing! I called out to Mister C and Husband, who both came upstairs and came outside onto the patio too; Mister C also squealed in delight and ran back inside to grab his dressing gown and ‘Ugg’ boots. Widy heard all of the commotion and also came upstairs to see the magical snow falling. It was such a wonderous sight, to see the white snowflakes falling down from the blackened sky. We ended up spending about thirty minutes outside (it was too cold); Mister C then grabbed a plastic cup and collected some of the snow and began to eat it (shall I say no more?). It was a strange, but wonderous moment; all five of us and ‘Rhetti’ immersed amongst another one of Mother Nature’s unique weather events…

Due to ongoing time constraints (and a sore broken tooth this week), we shall share a few more words from Mister C…

Mister C was in the kitchen grabbing some fresh popped popcorn from the bowl on the bench, I had made earlier. He exclaimed, “I love popcorn, so much!” And walked back into the lounge room. Mister sat down next to Dad and said, “If I went for a walk up the mountain to a nearby volcano and walked near it with the popping corn in my hand, would the corn pop loudly, Dad?” Dad giggled and replied, “Oh, no, my son; the corn wouldn’t, because you’ll be on fire from the volcano; the corn would probably have been burnt first too without popping! I wouldn’t be trying that any time soon, my son.” Mister C sighed and said, “Oh, okay, Dad. I do love watching the corn pop in our popcorn machine though- it is so cool!”…

Dad and Mister C were in the supermarket getting some essential supplies, both had their trusty masks fitted on. While walking together, Dad said, “When we go to the shops again, you’ll have to hold my hand until you’re nine and three-quarters!” Mister C grinned and then replied, “I’m gonna hold your hand until I’m twenty-five years old!” and then gripped Dad’s hand even tighter, as they walked into through the shopping centre. Dad looked down at Mister C and laughed, “Okay, my son. I’d like to see that in time to come!” Both laughed heartily together…

Sitting with Mister C after lunch, I looked up and saw Mister C was in need of a hair-cut. “Wow, my son, that red mop is getting pretty long and crazy! We’ll need to get you a chop-chop very soon!” Mister grinned and waved his hand over his red bangs, “Yes, Mummy, my hair is long. Flossy could tie it up onto my head- like my friend at school, he has long red, curly hair.” Leaning in to give Mister C a hug, I saw a long fine blonde hair on his cheek. “Oh, let me see your face, my son. I think you’ve got long hair there too!” Mister C turned and faced me, while he touched his cheek. “Wow!” Mister C cried, “I’m growing a beard and a mo all at once too! It must have been something I ate, to have caused all this hair to be growing!”… Both laughed.

Mister C was sitting in my office/studio at the glass desk with my laptop open, attending his ‘Zoom’ home-school session and meeting, with his favourite teacher and other class mates (last year while in lockdown). I left Mister C for a few minutes and then came back to the room and popped my head around the door, to check he was okay and the laptop was behaving itself with the unstable internet connection with ‘Zoom’. Mister C ‘s teacher gave all the children a turn at speaking and to chat about something of interest. When it came to Mister C’s turn, I heard him say, “Hi, everyone! I love this ‘Zoom’ thing… Did you know that group of crows is called a murder and a group of ravens is called a parliament?” His teacher smiled and said, “Oh, thanks Carter for that information, it was very interesting.” I turned away from the doorway and giggled softly to myself, as I wondered where Mister C had gotten that information from in the first place!… 🦅🦅

A Word from Mister C…

All sitting at the dining table eating tea, Mister C sneezed and sniffed his nose a couple of times. I looked over at Mister C and said, “Oh, my son, do you have a runny nose? Please go blow your nose.” I stood up to reach for a tissue and handed it to Mister C; “Maybe you have hay fever?” I smiled. Flossy looked up and replied, “I’m lucky, I don’t have that.” Widy nodded her head and said, “No, neither do I,” then took a mouthful of food. Mister C looked up and frowned, “Oh, what’s that?” Putting his fork down, Dad replied, “Oh, hay fever is like having an allergy to things like dust-mites, pet hair, pollen and hay.” Mister C looked puzzled, then smiled, “Oh, there ain’t no hay here, so I must be okay then!” All laughed… 🤔

Stay tuned…

Next week’s blog we will continue to chat about more silly and zany stuff. Exciting news… Me and Mister C have been invited to attend the fantastic Queanbeyan Library! We will be attending the library to read some of our books and make a fun craft with some lovely children and their parents in the area, as a part of the wonderful story time events held during the school term in mid-July. We look forward to these two events that will take place on Monday 18th and Wednesday 20th July. If you wish to find out more information and or would like to attend, please contact us: ingledlie@gmail.com Hugs from Mister C ❣

Mister C and I live in a rural town in NSW Australia, with Mister C's Dad and his two big sisters. We have an acreage with an old homestead, that we have been renovating over the past five years (a lot of work!). I am a registered nurse working in private nursing in NSW. I enjoy caring for people in our community, it is a very unique area to live. Mister C is now nine years old now, and is in year four at primary school. He loves super-heroes, building bricks ('Lego'), jumping really high on our trampoline at home and playing with our sweet pets. He has a big imagination and dreams a lot about interesting and funny stuff. We have two sweet doggies named 'Rhetti' and 'Niki', many chickens (lots of names there), three beautiful painted finches, named 'Red', 'Robin' & 'Ruby'. We have many wild animals that like to visit on a regular basis, like 'Bluey' the blue tongue lizard, 'Baby Poss', our resident brush tail possum, our family of king parrots, named 'George', 'Mildred' and 'Gilbert', 'Freddy' our resident green frog and family of noisy magpies, named 'Monte', Maggie', 'Carlo and the new twins. Pastimes for me include painting (anything), reading, illustrating, playing board games with Mister C and the girls, and of course writing (lots of writing!). Without children the world would be a quiet place!...
