Hiya! It’s Me and Mister C…

Hello there; lots of wild weather is hitting our little town (perhaps in yours too?) these past days, with crazy winds and lots more rain (too much of a good thing?). Mister C looked out the window this morning and sighed before saying, “Well, Mummy, Mother Nature sure isn’t happy this week. I think I’ve been very good at school and you at work, so I’m not sure why she’s cross with us this time!” …  Stay safe everyone and make sure if you get the chance (and can safely do this), to check on your loved ones and older persons in your local communities!

As I mentioned in last week’s blog, each fortnight (opposite the regular blog) I will be posting a blog with a few more words from Mister C, rather than the usual goings on in our little part of the world. I have had to modify how the blog is run to free up a little more time (a precious commodity at present- during these busy times); mainly to free up some time in order to get my writing and illustration work underway for our next sixth book (a little exciting), while also juggling the family and their needs too. So, please enjoy! Without further ado…

Making tea in the kitchen before going to karate with Widy for our usual Monday session (last year), Mister C and Flossy chose to have mac & cheese for a quick and easy meal. Mister C set the table and was a good boy helping this particular evening. While setting the place mats down with the cutlery, Mister C said, smiling, “I love the sound of mac & cheese, Mummy! It’s very satisfying hearing the sound of the cheese mixing together with the pasta.” Mister C pulled the microwave bowel closer and put his ear down towards the mixing bowl and sighed; “I love mac & cheese, nearly as much as Roblox!” Both giggled…

It was Widy’s special seventeenth birthday (last year). Widy was feeling a bit down as she wasn’t able to visit her dad and other family over the weekend, or go out for dinner as we had planned, due to the latest Covid ‘lockdown’ that had started days before her actual birthday. We decided to have a family in-house birthday party instead. I managed to grab several items, including her favourite caramel mud cake, donuts, sour lollies, some fun party items and decorations to put up in our dining room area, straight after work- forty-five minutes before the ‘lockdown’ was due to start (phew!). When I got home, Mister C was worried and said, “Will Widy be able to have her birthday and still turn another year older while we are in ‘lockdown’, Mummy?” Looking a bit puzzled, I replied, “Yes, my son, Widy will be turning older, there’s nothing that can ever change that- time will always keep on ticking! We can have a fun home-party all weekend instead; we should be able to order her favourite Chinese tea with a ‘no -contact’ delivery.” Mister C sighed and replied, “Yay! Widy will be so old soon, older than you too, Mummy!” We all laughed…

Dad and Mister C were lying in bed for morning hugs. Mister C was patting Dad’s face and inspecting his hair, “Gee, Dad, you have very long eye lashes and lots of them too!” Dad smiled and brushed Mister C’s hair away from his eyes, “Yes, my son; all the better to see you and keep my eyes clean with my plastics in (contacts).” Mister C nodded, “Wow, Dad, you must secretly be a girl; you’ve got those funny man-boobs too!” Both giggled and Dad retorted, “Oh, no I don’t, they are called man-pecs not man-boobs, my son!” Husband then quoted ‘Seinfeld’, saying he needed to wear a “Bro”… Both laughed heartily for several minutes.

A Word from Mister C…

Making breakfast in the kitchen, Mister C came running in and said, “What day is it, Mummy? Do I have to go to school today?” Smiling at Mister C, I replied, “Oh, not today, my son. It’s the weekend, no school today!” Mister C jumped around, jiggling his arms and legs; “Oh, that’s SO good. I love the weekend, no school for me! I wish the Maker created a week-long of weekends all term; there would be no school at all and we could stay home forever!” Frowning, I replied, “I wouldn’t wish too hard for that, my son- it may come true. Remember your cousin and family in Sydney last year, who were in ‘lockdown’ and had no school for the whole term. Remember home schooling?!” Mister C gasped, “Oh, no! Not home school!” …😏

Stay tuned…

It’s Husbands birthday mid-week, the last forty-something birthday before the big fifty next year! We have organised a few little surprises and Husband’s favourite Chinese tea, with a small friend gathering the following weekend, to celebrate both his birthday and the first day of Winter (because we can!). As a part of his birthday, Husband managed to book a plane ticket to fly up to QLD to see his dear Bro and family the following week. It’s also my dear sister and our nephew’s birthdays towards the end of the week (many birthdays in June). We also acknowledge Husband’s dear Dad, Bruce, who would have also celebrated his birthday this week- always remembered…

Mister C and I live in a rural town in NSW Australia, with Mister C's Dad and his two big sisters. We have an acreage with an old homestead, that we have been renovating over the past five years (a lot of work!). I am a registered nurse working in private nursing in NSW. I enjoy caring for people in our community, it is a very unique area to live. Mister C is now nine years old now, and is in year four at primary school. He loves super-heroes, building bricks ('Lego'), jumping really high on our trampoline at home and playing with our sweet pets. He has a big imagination and dreams a lot about interesting and funny stuff. We have two sweet doggies named 'Rhetti' and 'Niki', many chickens (lots of names there), three beautiful painted finches, named 'Red', 'Robin' & 'Ruby'. We have many wild animals that like to visit on a regular basis, like 'Bluey' the blue tongue lizard, 'Baby Poss', our resident brush tail possum, our family of king parrots, named 'George', 'Mildred' and 'Gilbert', 'Freddy' our resident green frog and family of noisy magpies, named 'Monte', Maggie', 'Carlo and the new twins. Pastimes for me include painting (anything), reading, illustrating, playing board games with Mister C and the girls, and of course writing (lots of writing!). Without children the world would be a quiet place!...
