Halloo…. Brrr, it’s been super cold these past few days, in our little corner of our majestically vast world. Our wood fire-box has been roaring hot, we are so thankful we had this fire-box installed more than two years ago now. Still more rains have poured down from the heavens (is it ever going to stop?); our hearts and thoughts are still going out to the families and communities, that have been affected by the horrendous deluge in areas of our states to the south-eastern regions. It’s so devastating to see all of the damage and destruction everywhere. Me and Mister C really hope you and your families now have somewhere warm and safe to stay while the long clean-up continues; you can do it- there must be so much heartache though…
Are the school hols over yet? (No- not yet!). As I have often written in past blogs, these Winter school hols are always the hardest, mainly due to the very cold days and not a lot of fun things to do. The girls and Mister C always made and still make the most of it; if the grumps and boredom moods ever arose, Husband and I would always remind them how lucky they all were to have and do what they have, in their fortunate and happy lives. The girls and Mister C have been having a good break, with lots of relaxation (maybe a little too much!). Flossy had been having a few friend issues the last week of the school term, so we decided it might be a nice break for her to pop down with Dad for two nights to ACT; to also spend quality time with Granny and Grandad (thanks G & GD-we love you both!). I think Granny was going to take Flossy out for the day to the movies and lunch, while have some fun together (I’m a bit envious- but Flossy deserves it!). Widy has a lot of booked shifts for her work at our local ‘K-Mart’ store and has been saving up plenty of cashola for her trip to QLD, booked for mid-October with her school year group (sounds fun!); while spending some quality time with her kind and hardworking boyfriend.
Mister C has been attending the local ‘PCYC’ school holiday program (so great!), for three days during both holiday weeks. He has been having some fun there (with some encouragement- as was a bit shy!), meeting new children and making friends, while playing fun games, rock climbing and attending some arts and crafts (sounds so good, I wanted to join in!). Mister C also attended a close friend’s birthday party last Saturday (happy birthday again C.M!) and had heaps of fun. Yesterday however, Mister C had to attend his booked appointment to see our dentist again, for another needle (oh no!) and two possible filling repairs to two of his top back teeth. One of the teeth is larger (at the back) and is not due to fall out until later, the general age is usually between ten to twelve years, but most likely longer for Mister C; who (as we know) is quite slow for his teeth to come out (just like Flossy). So, Mister C’s tooth (and smaller one too) had to be properly repaired to ensure the jaw and gums developed for his adult teeth to come up later on. I was pleasantly surprised, to see how well Mister C attended the appointment and coped with the needle, noise and dental drilling work (well done my brave young man). Dealing with these unpleasant experiences well and with good support, will help set Mister C up for future experiences that may not always be fun; as with most children, such experiences are necessary for growing up.
Want more words from Mister C? Here you go now (enjoy!) …
Mister C had another trip to see our kind dentist in the afternoon. He was quietly sitting in the car, as he prepared himself for having another needle to his gum, to have two more cavities repaired in his baby teeth. Widy joined us for the trip, all of us went to the shops before the appointment, to grab some grocery items and a quick early lunch. Widy smiled and commented, “You’ll be fine, Mister C. You’ve got brave bones in there!” Mister C giggled and looked up at Widy, “Oh, yes, I have at least one hundred brave bones in my body. I will be as brave as ‘Spider-Man’, when he gets bitten by the super spider in the movie. The needle will be a bit sharp, but I don’t mind having a numb face, it’s kind of funny!” I smiled and giggled, “Good, boy! I know you’ll do well. You have your new toy from ‘K-Mart’ to open, and you can put it together straight after your teeth work is done- a gold coffin toy, sounds fun!?” Widy laughed, “Wow, you’re so lucky! I wish I had a gold coffin toy too.” All laughed…
Mister C came home from after-school care (last year); Dad was able to pick Mister C up this day, as he had finished work a bit earlier. Mister C walked in and dumped his school bag on the couch, “Hi, Mummy, “Mister C said, looking a bit down. “Something bad happened at after-school and Dad thought I should tell you.” Feeling a bit worried, I replied, “Oh hi, my son. What happened, are you alright?” I then stood up and leaned over to give Mister C a hug. “Oh, yes, I’m okay,” he replied, looking brighter. “I didn’t cause the problem; I was the person who saw it! Unlike last year, I am now humble and I didn’t need to get into trouble or use my hands or feet at all! I helped my friend and we both spoke with our teacher, who listened to us and we were all happy in the end.” Mister C continued, “It’s all sorted out, Dad knows and that’s okay.” Giving Mister C another big squeezy hug, I replied, “Oh, wow I am so proud of you, my son! Well done for helping your friend, and for getting through the problem.” Hugs all round…
Sitting at the dining table for tea (Widy was at work), Mister C was talking about some funny things that he and Dad had said earlier, about some topics for his upcoming speech next week. Mister C giggled after finishing his mouthful of food, smiled and said, “We were all kids once, except, Dad; he’s always been a salty old codger!” Dad coughed, then swallowed his mouthful without choking and replied, “Oh, no, my son. I was young once too, just like you are.” Mister C giggled again, “Oh, I’m much older now, I don’t consider myself very young anymore!” Continuing, Mister C tried not to laugh, “That must have been a very long time ago, Dad- in the days of the dinosaurs! You know, Mummy is only twenty-one!” We all laughed heartily…
A Word from Mister C…
Dad and Mister C were travelling home from ACT (last year). Dad was driving (of course), Mister C was sitting in the back seat and looking out the side window. Mister C saw quite a few cars were flying past their car on the highway road. “Gee, Dad, those cars are zooming past really fast. Why aren’t we doing that too?!” Dad looked up into the rear-view mirror, “Well, my son, it’s not good to speed. It’s always best to stick to the speed limit and keep our licences.” Mister C nodded and replied, “Yes, Dad, you do drive quite slowly like an old codger. Oh! I just saw a number plate on a red car zoom really fast past us; it read ‘Hell boy’! It should read ‘666’, don’t you think, Dad? That car was hell speeding!” Both laughed…🚗
Stay tuned…
Thanks everyone who have been reading our blogs over the past weeks; we know times are tough lately and we really hope the blogs can brighten up your day (just a little bit?) while having a cuppa or a glass of vino; we appreciate you and for taking the time to continue to check-out our blog site. I am working hard at present to get the next two stories written for our next Mister C book series coming soon; it’s all things about teeth and the ‘Tooth Fairy’ stories as told by Mister C (sounds good huh?!). I will start the illustrations shortly and put up a few sneak previews very soon (a little bit exciting!)… Hugs from Mister C 💕
