Hellooo! It’s Mister C and Me…

Hiya! Happy New Year to you all! We hope you were able to do something nice, either spending time with your family and/or friends, doing a special thing that sparks ‘JOY’ for you. For me particularly, it has always been important (a bit like a ritual?) to be doing something that is positive and includes all of our family (well most of us); to set the New Year beginning in good stead (sounds silly I know). Spending time with some dear friends, was what we did; and I can report we all had a wonderful time, with our children playing happily together too (love you H & J.C). As you may know, we enjoy playing board games. Husband had received a new game from my sister and family for Christmas (thanks heaps C & J.M!); it was a game for over eighteens and a bit cheeky, but lots of fun (particularly with just a little alcohol on board!) …

It is exciting to write, we are now in the New Year of 2021! According to traditional Chinese Zodiac signs (anything to lift our spirits?), 2021 is going to be the Year of the Ox (metal). According to the internet, the Ox is said to denote hard work, positivity and honesty; that is represented in all of us, over the coming twelve months. The Ox is said to be more even-keeled and steady (we can only hope for more calmness!) (https://www.japantimes.co.jp/life). Mister C was born in the year of the Dragon (2012) (no wonder he’s the way he is?!), and I was born in the year of the Tiger (1974). It is interesting to read about these things; it usually gives a fairly good picture, of who we are as individuals. For me, I am just hoping (praying?) for a better year- for all of us…

A quick update regarding our chook situation; sadly, (and I do feel like an idiot really!) we had to give back ALL of our four chooks, that turned into boy roosters (arrgh!)-thank-you ‘Fife’s’ for taking the roosters back. Our neighbours (and us) are pleased the roosters have now gone (they have left the building!); we can now all have some more peace and a bit more of a sleep in (thanks for your patience everyone!)… We look forward to collecting our baby (quiet girls) white silky chooks, in the coming months (when they have been properly sexed!)…

Righto, back to 2018… As you may recall, we were cleaning up after the horrendous hail storm we had at the end of January. The ‘NRMA’ assessor was able to come out to the house quite quickly; my heel was finally healing up, with not so much discomfort on walking (hobbling around). The beautiful flowers I had received from my lovely sister, were still in full bloom, brightening our days up immensely. Our insurance claim was soon approved; the work to replace the laundry ceiling and repaint all the front rooms was due to commence shortly (thank goodness!). We couldn’t believe, just how much hail damage the storm had caused on all the garden, trees and the chook area. I can report, it did take many weeks to properly clean up the house and yard. I guess we were thankful our cars were under the carport and the industrial shade sail, when the storm hit and luckily were not damaged (one less thing to worry about?).

Through all of this, Mister C finally commenced his first day in kindy at the big school on the hill (as Mister C called it- and ‘Rocky Hill’ school). A first day is always exciting; but Mister C was naturally quite nervous too… Husband was away for work (bad timing); and was unhappy that he couldn’t be there for Mister C’s first day. I assured Husband it was alright and Mister C would be fine; us girls had it all covered! As my first children’s book goes… Mister C did get up really early, was all dressed and ready to go before six-thirty am! He did have his school shorts on back to front, but looked very cute, I have to admit. Husband commented, “Wow! As I write this, Carter has just started his first day at big school- kindergarten. I wished him good luck (and Widy too) over the phone yesterday. He looked sooo cute in his school uniform.”

Not only was it Mister C’s first day at school, but it was also Widy’s first day at High school- year seven. Widy was also a bit nervous (naturally); but she was in good stead, with some close friends from primary school, also going to the same high school together. Widy looked very grown up in her new school uniform with new shoes. We were very proud of both of them, and of course our Flossy too; who was commencing the big year four at the same primary school with Mister C- it was indeed going to be another busy year!..

As soon Mister C had finished his first two days in kindy; the Sunday afterwards, he began to have very high temps and was unwell. I ended up having to keep him home from school for four days, until he felt better (a juggle- but home is best when they are sick!). The poor little guy was still very tired and had been quite emotional at school; his teacher (so wonderful M.N) was very caring of Mister C, and had mentioned to me at school pick-up, about him shedding a few tears during the day and was missing his Dad (and me) too! The following week, I recall Mister C picked up fairly well and was happy to attend kindy (so far so good?).

A Word from Mister C …

I cared for some special people at my work; on Christmas day, this year. I couldn’t be home, to help open the remainder of the gifts (we had an early Christmas the Sunday before), with the kids on Christmas morning. So, I promised both Flossy and Mister C; that I would ring mid-morning (Widy was away in ACT- I would speak with her later). I rang Husband whilst on my break; then happily chatted with Flossy for a couple of minutes; and then Mister C. Mister C got on the phone and said, “Merry Christmas, Mummy! I wish you were here… You should have seen my face, when I saw my new blue BMX bike; Santa left for me at the back door! How did Santa know, I wanted a BMX bike; so, we can all go riding together? I love you Mummy! I will see you soon, and then I can show you my ‘bike face’!” …

Stay tuned…

For more silly stories from us in 2018! Mister C attends kindy, but there are a few issues that soon arise… Husband sticks to his diet and loses a few kilos- well done! I celebrate another year older mid-February (oh no!) and my dear sister comes up to visit; we enjoy a sleep-over and dinner out together- so great! … Stay tuned and keep on reading. Night from Mister C… ❤

Mister C and I live in a rural town in NSW Australia, with Mister C's Dad and his two big sisters. We have an acreage with an old homestead, that we have been renovating over the past five years (a lot of work!). I am a registered nurse working in private nursing in NSW. I enjoy caring for people in our community, it is a very unique area to live. Mister C is now nine years old now, and is in year four at primary school. He loves super-heroes, building bricks ('Lego'), jumping really high on our trampoline at home and playing with our sweet pets. He has a big imagination and dreams a lot about interesting and funny stuff. We have two sweet doggies named 'Rhetti' and 'Niki', many chickens (lots of names there), three beautiful painted finches, named 'Red', 'Robin' & 'Ruby'. We have many wild animals that like to visit on a regular basis, like 'Bluey' the blue tongue lizard, 'Baby Poss', our resident brush tail possum, our family of king parrots, named 'George', 'Mildred' and 'Gilbert', 'Freddy' our resident green frog and family of noisy magpies, named 'Monte', Maggie', 'Carlo and the new twins. Pastimes for me include painting (anything), reading, illustrating, playing board games with Mister C and the girls, and of course writing (lots of writing!). Without children the world would be a quiet place!...
