Hiya! It’s Mister C and Me…

Hello there, we hope your week has been a productive and positive one… As I wrote last blog, Mister C and I had happily waved Husband off at the local airport, for his b’day trip to QLD. I can report, Husband had a wonderful time and came home very tired, hungover and unshaven (the signs of a good time?). Husband also commented, that nothing untoward happened while travelling around in sunny QLD, and he claimed he diligently wore his face mask around each airport (well done). I received a few texts from him during his time away (nice!), also commenting on the temperature up there. It was interesting to note the temperature difference between our cold wintery town, to sunny QLD (Gold Coast) area, where Husband was partying. Husband gloated it was a lovely twenty-two degrees there one day; I dared not to look at our temperature gauge- but I ended up having a sneak-peak an hour or so later- it was a chilly nine degrees (arrg!). Husband commented the flights were on time (so good), and his bro and family (thanks B & S. L) were great; assisting him with transport to and from the airport (thanks heaps!). I’m glad Husband enjoyed his trip away; in the coming weeks, he is going to be laid-up with a stiff knee brace on, with NO driving around to the shops for about six weeks (oh no!). Husband also thinks he will be up and about in 4 weeks- but let’s wait and see!…

It was a busy four days or so with Mister C and the girls on my own; I have to say, it was probably one of the easiest and calmest times (was still a lot of work), I have had to care for Mister C and the girls on my own in many years. I am happy to report, there were not major incidents, car issues, school incidents or injuries (wow!). The girls were very helpful and Mister C was (mostly) well behaved (thanks kids!); I was able to have an hour or two of space, to continue editing my fourth book manuscript (most important). Mister C was happy playing with his new gem stones for a day or two at least; he didn’t miss Dad as much this time either, no tears of sadness- phew! (he’s now growing up?). Mister C has insisted that he is accompanying Husband to QLD on the next visit though (and will be a surprise for his b’day in November!).

As most know, I am a registered nurse now working in private nursing. There has been much information and debate over the Covid vaccines, of which have now been rolled out into all cities across Australia and most of our beautiful world. Being a ‘front line worker’, I was due to have a vaccination back in March; but due to Governmental and supply issues, I have had to wait for the next supply of a certain vaccine. I am now pleased that I have been successfully booked into a Covid clinic in ACT for tomorrow (unfortunately- it did take a few long phone calls to get through to obtain an appointment). I am a little nervous, but pleased I can say that I’m not fifty yet- not that there’s anything wrong with that age, just a bid daunting for some… I know it’s the right moral thing to do, to go ‘get the jab’ (as most are saying). I have some family members (hiya all!), who have had two doses from the two different types of vaccines that are now available; good news- they have all survived the few (minor) post-vaccine symptoms (wish me luck?). I look forward to being protected from this atrocious virus, while also help protect our dear older residents. I’m a little excited to be getting prepared for the ‘Covid passport’ (not sure what that entails yet), so we can (finally) get on that plane to New Zealand, or somewhere else equally great, that is still a bit closer to home (a holiday soon please?).

Okay, back to 2019 now… I recall I had previously mentioned, I had arranged a booked surprise for Husband and I, to help celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary (a nice milestone don’t you think?). I wasn’t able to keep it a surprise as such, Husband guessed it and saw the deposit on the bank statement (oh no!). We had a few discussions about it; in the end Husband agreed to give it go (well done Husband!). Husband commented, “Wife and I had the day off together on our actual anniversary day; her surprise for us both was to go and a get a tattoo together! It did hurt quite a bit, but mine only took ten minutes, while Wife’s too over an hour! I’m glad I went through with it in the end, I like the design we came up with too. We then went to get lunch and meant to go have some nice Thai food, but ended up eating in the food court instead (still nice).” I am proud of Husband and how he went through with getting his ‘ink’ done; I have to say, his tattoo looks great, is a small design- but less is more in the world of body art (don’t you think?). I had a larger tattoo done to my inner left arm, signifying all my loved ones who are in heaven (very close to my heart). I did feel a bit lopsided afterwards (funny huh?), after having a couple of other designs already on my body; I felt the need to get another one done at a later date (is very addictive!) …

Now end of March, Duggie was recovering well from his leg surgery, and not going to stir crazy stuck in his portacot. Nearly three weeks later, Duggie was now able to have a little exercise and use his leg outside for thirty minutes a day now. The girls were very caring of Duggie and were very helpful with his ongoing care (bit like back now to 2021!). We had sadly lost one of our sweet chooks to the nasty fox (again) and one girl had been ‘egg bound’ and sadly had passed away around the same time (is unavoidable sometimes-sadly). We were all trying to keep our dear pets, as safe and happy as possible (as much as could be).

It had been over six months since we had visited our happy place, going down the coast to fabulous Mollybook. Husband and I decided to take the kids away with us, for a couple of nights together to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The day following our ‘ink’ event, we packed up the car and drove down the spiral mountain to get to our favourite destination. It was a little trip down memory lane, with the girls and Mister C walking me down the aisle (cement path to the beach), where Husband and I had exchanged our beautiful vows all those years ago. It was a special afternoon, we took some happy snaps and went to the local club, that overlooked the breath-taking ocean for a nice afternoon tea together. Husband commented, “We all went on a lovely family holiday to Mollybook, two nights only though. The girls, Mister C and I played mini golf. We went to the local club on Saturday and was good to see a close friend there too (hiya L.S) in the playroom. We went to the beach twice and for the first time Mister C -big boy, was allowed to swim in the deeper pool (under supervision)- wow! We have come a long way with the kids and swimming.”

Mister C was now in year one at school, he was a bit more settled after the commencement of the first few weeks of the school term, with other boisterous boys in his class. Flossy was still at the same school (year five), while Widy was now in year seven at high school. Mister C was pleased to have one of his sister’s still at the same school with him; it did help him, knowing he could go see Flossy if there was something (or someone) worrying him. Husband commented, “I watched Mister C run to the school gate this morning, and wanted to record the memory as the sweetest thing. My little boy is in first grade, he’s so small and cute running with his blue bag on his back, swinging back and forth as he ran to catch up with his older sister.” (Mister C was very cute and he still is) …

A Word from Mister C…

Mister C was excited to be able to come along to see Dad off at the ACT airport, before his flight to QLD for his birthday- which was the same day. Mister C had wanted to go visit the ‘Dinosaur Museum’ and also pick up a new gem stone too. ‘Happy BIG birthday, Dad!” Mister C called out, giving Dad a hug just before Dad walked out to the plane. “You’d better have a really good time, Dad. You know, I really wanted to go this time,” Mister C sighed; “I bet if I came along, you’d have much more fun!” Dad smiled and replied, “I can’t wait till you can come with me, perhaps next time? There may be a surprise before the end of the year!” … “Ooh! I love surprises, Dad,” Mister C called, waving bye to Dad; “I will miss you a thousand times!” …

Stay tuned…

For more zanier stories from 2019 and then heading into 2020! Our third book is now with the printer; we should hopefully receive our author copies very soon- we are excited! We look forward to our eighty-sixth blog next week and thank-you for your continued support reading our blogs! Hugs from me and Mister C…

Mister C and I live in a rural town in NSW Australia, with Mister C's Dad and his two big sisters. We have an acreage with an old homestead, that we have been renovating over the past five years (a lot of work!). I am a registered nurse working in private nursing in NSW. I enjoy caring for people in our community, it is a very unique area to live. Mister C is now nine years old now, and is in year four at primary school. He loves super-heroes, building bricks ('Lego'), jumping really high on our trampoline at home and playing with our sweet pets. He has a big imagination and dreams a lot about interesting and funny stuff. We have two sweet doggies named 'Rhetti' and 'Niki', many chickens (lots of names there), three beautiful painted finches, named 'Red', 'Robin' & 'Ruby'. We have many wild animals that like to visit on a regular basis, like 'Bluey' the blue tongue lizard, 'Baby Poss', our resident brush tail possum, our family of king parrots, named 'George', 'Mildred' and 'Gilbert', 'Freddy' our resident green frog and family of noisy magpies, named 'Monte', Maggie', 'Carlo and the new twins. Pastimes for me include painting (anything), reading, illustrating, playing board games with Mister C and the girls, and of course writing (lots of writing!). Without children the world would be a quiet place!...
