Bula! It’s Me and Mister C here…

As I write this blog today, I am trying to type one-handed (left-handed) again. It is quite tricky to do, along with trying to type the correct spelling, grammar and punctuation (please excuse any mistakes at present!). Me and Mister C wanted to thank our avid readers for their patience with no published blog last fortnight. We sincerely apologise for the disruption, but with my right wrist (CTR-carpal tunnel release) surgery exactly a fortnight ago, life has been further difficult with my ongoing pain and restrictions with my right hand at present. I am pleased to report, the surgery was successful. I have another review of the wound and possible removal of sutures, later this week with my Orthopaedic Specialist (thanks very much). I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank my family once again for their unwavering care over these past weeks; it had been a tough time, but with their love and support I am (we are) getting through and will continue to slowly recover from my injuries and other upcoming booked procedures…

You may have noticed our happy ‘hello’ this week, ‘Bula’, from the unique Fijian language from the wonderful island of Fiji. As you might recall, the family and I visited this glorious destination back in early May of this year. On meeting some of the delightful locals and staff from the resort we stayed at, I was later able to donate a set of four of our first Children’s Books to one of the local primary schools in the area where we stayed (posted the following weeks when we were home). I finally heard back from the school and was sent some wonderful images of the school Principal and some of the school children with our books (one image included on today’s blog). Me and Mister C are thrilled to receive some correspondence back and are so happy the children enjoyed our books! This is the main reason we wanted to start creating our unique books, so as to share our books with children from all over our unique world; we are super thrilled and honoured…

Along with all of my ongoing appointments and our busy family life and events, Widy was able to have her second half-set of braces (six top and bottom only) put on with our dentist, Friday the last week (thanks heaps). Widy had decided earlier in the year to pay for the braces herself, after she had her four huge wisdom teeth removed before Christmas, which was quite a hard time for her. Widy’s remaining teeth had moved considerably, since having the first full-set of braces on when younger for nearly two years, and given the fact she had lost her top retainer at the movies and had not worn the lower retainer for several months (not good Widy). Sadly, Widy must have had a small reaction to the ‘mouth glue’ and her lips began to swell over the weekend (wasn’t a life threatening issue); two brackets had also unfortunately popped off from her two teeth on the bottom row (both ends). Widy was at her boyfriend’s place out of town when it happened; she rang me worried and I suggested she will need to call the dentist and go straight back into the clinic to have the brackets replaced, as part of the wire was sticking out and could injure the inside of her gum…

Poor Widy had to drive back into town and attended the clinic, the first bracket was able to be quickly replaced. The second bracket came off later that evening, so Widy had to wait until Monday morning to have the wire shortened (such a drama!). The dentist mentioned the issue occurred due to the tension on the lower jaw, with only having the six brackets to re-straighten the partially moved teeth. Now over a week later, things have settled down; Widy’s lips are almost back to normal and she is tolerating more food types better (yay!). Hopefully Widy will only need the braces on for six to eight months; she is a little disappointed about having to have the braces on for her formal event in November later in the year, but nonetheless, Widy agreed her jaw and teeth are more important in the long run (and of course she will still look beautiful!). It’s Flossy’s turn for her full-set of braces very soon (oh no!)…

Due to my right wrist procedure, the blog will be a shortened version this week (apologies again). Instead, here is another Word From Mister C to have a bit of a giggle…

Dad was still in the kitchen making his brekky; he called out to Mister C, “Please come upstairs and have some breakky, my son.” Mister C called out, “Not now, Dad. I’m busy!” Dad frowned and replied, “No, my son. What do you want for brekky? Do you want some cheese on toast?” Mister C called back, “Yes, please, Dad.” A minute late, Mister C then ran upstairs and took his plate of toast. “Thanks, Dad, you’re the best Dad ever!” Dad smiled and then replied, “If you don’t eat all of your toast, you’ll have to give me a foot massage instead!” Mister C frowned and replied, “If I do have to give you a foot massage, you’ll have to pay me first! Don’t you know Dad, nothing in life is free!” Both laughed…

A Word From Mister C…

Mister C was in the hotel room sitting on the couch watching some TV, after we had all braved the warm and refreshing indoor heated pool, while away in chilly Tassie (mid-last year). Dad walked into the lounge room  and said, “Hi, my son. Let’s go for a walk outside and explore our new surroundings. It’ll be fun to go look around, like we used to do in the old days together. Mister C shook his head and replied, “No, Dad, I’m busy now.” Dad moaned and replied, “Oh, but we always did that together in the olden days, when you were younger, my son. C’mon let’s go!”  Mister C shook his head again and replied, “No, Dad, it’s the present day now!” Both giggled…  😜

Stay tuned…

Me and Mister C will be attending our fabulous Parkside Rotary Market book stall this coming Saturday (730-1330pm); Husband has promised to help again this time, particularly with my right wrist still healing (thanks my rock). Mister C has been a great ‘sock boy’, and has been helping me with putting on my shoes and socks (thanks very much, my son- I love you!). We look forward to seeing our friends at the markets and seeing some familiar faces there on the day. We love chatting with people and also hearing feedback about our books. Hope to see you there on Saturday! Hugs Me and Mister C… 💕

Mister C and I live in a rural town in NSW Australia, with Mister C's Dad and his two big sisters. We have an acreage with an old homestead, that we have been renovating over the past five years (a lot of work!). I am a registered nurse working in private nursing in NSW. I enjoy caring for people in our community, it is a very unique area to live. Mister C is now nine years old now, and is in year four at primary school. He loves super-heroes, building bricks ('Lego'), jumping really high on our trampoline at home and playing with our sweet pets. He has a big imagination and dreams a lot about interesting and funny stuff. We have two sweet doggies named 'Rhetti' and 'Niki', many chickens (lots of names there), three beautiful painted finches, named 'Red', 'Robin' & 'Ruby'. We have many wild animals that like to visit on a regular basis, like 'Bluey' the blue tongue lizard, 'Baby Poss', our resident brush tail possum, our family of king parrots, named 'George', 'Mildred' and 'Gilbert', 'Freddy' our resident green frog and family of noisy magpies, named 'Monte', Maggie', 'Carlo and the new twins. Pastimes for me include painting (anything), reading, illustrating, playing board games with Mister C and the girls, and of course writing (lots of writing!). Without children the world would be a quiet place!...
