Hi there… It’s Me and Mister C!

It’s now week two of the new school term (how time flies?). How are your children handling being back to school and those (not nice- but necessary) RAT tests before school twice per week? Mister C has been tired after school (understandably), but happily reported he has a very nice teacher AND his three best friends are in his class together- wow! (that’s a first!). Widy is well underway with her year eleven school work and is (well) organised with what is expected of her this year. Flossy has moved around in a few of her old classes from last year, opening up to make some more new friendships this term (which would be nice) and is also hopeful for a calmer year eight too. We can only hope for a smoother school term (and year) for all the kids and (I guess) we are ready for any hurdles that do come our way (don’t you think?) …

I can report our two new doggie best friends are settling in very well, we have officially completed out two-week home trial (today!). I purchased two new doggie tags at the end of last week (in preparation-very cute) and we should receive all the adoption paperwork this coming week (micro-chipping details etc.). I spoke with Husband over the weekend about the dogs, confirming the kids and I really (really) wanted to keep the boys. He looked at me then said, “Oh, thanks for letting me know; I didn’t think I really had much choice!” Frowning, I explained the boys were settling in well and it would most likely take another few weeks for everyone to fully re-settle into the house. I said I didn’t have the heart to send the dogs back and they were well and truly part of the family now. Husband was a bit grumpy about ‘Rhetti’ barking (a little) during the day, mostly during times when we come through the front door (he is just greeting us, I think?). I explained ‘Rhetti’ is still getting to know all the sounds around the house, including the front gate, along with our usual routines. He acknowledged this and we all know that dogs do bark at times; it’s in their nature and it is how we calmly ‘retrain’ and support these (older) dogs that really counts.

Flossy was reading some older blogs last week and mentioned that I hadn’t written anything about Mister C and Husband’s trip to QLD, just before Christmas last year (sorry). I guess, with losing Duggie (our sweet pet doggie) two days before Christmas and trying to juggle those few blogs and school holidays, my mind must have slipped past the holiday event (I wasn’t there either, as Flossy also pointed out). I recall they both had a wonderful trip away (as reported by Husband), the only downer was Mister C sadly did get quite sunburnt on his upper back and shoulders (don’t ask me how). Husband did assure me, he did make sure Mister C put lots of sunscreen on, but that Mister C wanted to take off his rashie-shirt to be just like his older cousin (obviously missing those body parts with the sunscreen?). I recall spending several days after they were back from their trip, soothing Mister C’s sore shoulders with ‘Aloe Vera’ cream, of which the burns did heal and fade over the next following week (hiya B, S, L & C- miss you!). So, to also appease Mister C (and Husband) here is more Words from Mister C about their long-awaited trip to sunny QLD.

Chatting with the girls and Mister C in the car home (end of last year), I reminded Mister C that it was soon time for his trip to QLD with Dad. Mister C said, “Yes, Mummy, there are only five more sleeps- I’m SO excited!” I smiled back and then replied, “Remember to be careful, my son. The pool is fun, but please be safe? I don’t want any broken bones on your trip.” Mister C fidgeted with his fingers, then said, “No Mummy, my bones can’t break; I am made of strong steel and that will never ever break!” All laughed…

“Wow, Mummy, there’s only one more sleep until Dad and I fly up high in the plane, to go all the way across the big ocean and planet, to the other side of the world to get to QLD. I’m SO excited, I can’t wait anymore!” Smiling back at Mister C, I replied, “Oh, my son, remember QLD is still a state in our Aussie land and not overseas, like good old USA. Soon we’ll be able to use our passports and fly overseas to visit a new and exciting country.” Mister C sighed and said, “Oh, that’s right, I still can’t wait to go on the big plane, even if it’s still in good old Aussie land!” Both laughed…

Following on from these zany words for the blog this week, I might just stick with a few more Words from Mister C- enjoy…

Mister C was sitting at the dining table finishing his homework (last year), “Mummy, does Widy have a ‘Toyota’ car? I looked up, while cooking tea and said, “Oh, no my son. Widy’s new second-hand car is a ‘Kia Cerrato’; how come, my son?” … “Oh, did you know there are two types of ‘Toyotas’?” Mister C said, giggling… “Oh, really, do tell,” I replied smiling, as I began to scratch my head in absent-minded wonder. “Well, there’s ‘Toyota’ the car and ‘toy-Yoda’ the toy- they both mean ‘Toyota’! Mister C began to giggle louder and continued, “I think that’s pretty cool, having a toy called ‘Toy-Yoda’, Mummy. When I’m older, I want to get a ‘Toyota’ car- a red shiny one!” Both laughed…

Last year we all went to Mittagong for a family day out; we went to the ‘Labour Club’ and spent a few dollars at the local ‘Big-W’ there as well. Mister C needed some new shoes and a pair of track-pants for school. As Mister C was trying the items on, he pointed out, “I’m growing taller and taller by the minute, Mummy!” Mister C tried on a few pairs of shoes and I found a soft pair of black track-pants. “Gee, I like these shoes, Mummy; they make my feet feel soft and very hugged!” Smiling, I replied, “That’s great, my son; do you like the clothes too?”… “Yes, I love the track-pants, they are very soft and also hug my legs as well. I’ll have a matching huggable set of shoes and pants to wear, so great!”…

A Word from Mister C…

Getting ready for school (the start of a new term), Mister C came upstairs and popped his head around the door to my study room, where I have been sleeping (on the hard camp-bed) for the past four weeks, due to the recent flood at our house. Mister C smiled and said, “Hi, Mummy, I’m all dressed and ready for school now!” I looked at the small clock near my camp-bed and it shined 0640am. “Wow, my son, you’re ready early today. You must be looking forward to going back to school!” … “Oh yes, Mummy, I’ve had enough of being home now; there’s nothing more to do here and I need to give my eyes a rest from all that TV time I’ve had. I wonder if my friends look the same, or if they are taller than me now? It sure feels like years since I went to school?” …🤸‍♂️🤸‍♂️🤸‍♂️

Stay tuned…

For lots more stories from Mister and the family… We hope to have the flood damage and claims at the house completed in the next few weeks, with the important building claim review being conducted next week; along with new carpet and flooring going in to Widy’s room next week as well. I will be uploading more ‘Word from Mister C’ stories over the coming weeks on the blog site and in the next few blogs (there are a lot of zany words there!). I am busily illustrating our fifth book and have now completed ten images (including the front and back cover images); hopefully we will see a new cover idea over the coming weeks (thanks L.F -very exciting!)… Keep on reading! Hugs from Mister C 💖

Mister C and I live in a rural town in NSW Australia, with Mister C's Dad and his two big sisters. We have an acreage with an old homestead, that we have been renovating over the past five years (a lot of work!). I am a registered nurse working in private nursing in NSW. I enjoy caring for people in our community, it is a very unique area to live. Mister C is now nine years old now, and is in year four at primary school. He loves super-heroes, building bricks ('Lego'), jumping really high on our trampoline at home and playing with our sweet pets. He has a big imagination and dreams a lot about interesting and funny stuff. We have two sweet doggies named 'Rhetti' and 'Niki', many chickens (lots of names there), three beautiful painted finches, named 'Red', 'Robin' & 'Ruby'. We have many wild animals that like to visit on a regular basis, like 'Bluey' the blue tongue lizard, 'Baby Poss', our resident brush tail possum, our family of king parrots, named 'George', 'Mildred' and 'Gilbert', 'Freddy' our resident green frog and family of noisy magpies, named 'Monte', Maggie', 'Carlo and the new twins. Pastimes for me include painting (anything), reading, illustrating, playing board games with Mister C and the girls, and of course writing (lots of writing!). Without children the world would be a quiet place!...
