Hello from Me and Mister C…

Hello, firstly, I wanted to apologise for the disruption to our blog and site last week; it was unavoidable, mainly due to our unfortunate car accident that occurred on Monday (public holiday). I would like to say a huge thank you to all the first responders, police, ambulance and firey’s for their care and kindness through a very traumatic experience. Husband has had to step up and amongst his extra work (including helping me to shower!) has kindly agreed to be my scribe this week (and possibly more), so, as I dictate my words, Husband is typing it all down for me in this blog (thanks my steady rock). We wish to thank everyone for your understanding and patience, while we also wanted to acknowledge and sincerely appreciate all of the well wishes and care via social media.

So yes, sadly Flossy, Mister C & Me were involved in a serious motor vehicle accident last Monday; Widy decided not to go with us this time, as she had work later in the afternoon and was weary. We were on the Hume Highway heading south towards the ‘Tulip Festival’ farm in Hidden Valley for a day outing together, of which Husband was to meet us there after staying in the ACT the previous night. We are just so thankful that Flossy and Mister C were not seriously injured, both coming away with a mild concussion and very shaken; sadly, I was not so lucky…

Life has unfortunately taken a turn for the worse for me at present; with my current injuries, I am not able to attend my normal activities, including my nursing work and book work. Two days after the accident, Mister C was still very quiet and said to me after giving me another hug, “If we all had to be in a car crash, then I’m was glad it was like it was, as it could have been so much worse, Mummy.” It is still all too raw at the moment to write about, but I will update all further soon…

Well, school holidays are now over and Flossy & Mister C headed back to school yesterday. Widy is a lucky duck, with being up in sunny QLD for her year group school trip for the week. Flossy was having a few issues at school and was feeling a bit down before the car accident, so I thought she would like a change – and offered her a make-over to have a new hair style and also helped to spruce her room up with new fresh curtains, and two new pictures to put up on her bedroom walls as well. It was lovely to see a smile on her face and in a brighter mood; it was really quite uplifting for both of us and it was like a weight had literally been lifted off Flossy’s shoulders -both physically and emotionally, with her very long hair cut and styled (so proud of you sweetheart).

On a happier note, Me and Mister C attended and held our book stall at the local Lilac City Festival event, on the Saturday before the accident occurred on Monday. I’m pleased to report, the rain held off and we had a great time chatting to lots of people about our books and illustrations; thanks very much to all who attended and bought a few or all of our books. Hopefully we will be able to attend another stall event in the coming months. On another positive note, my designer has just sent back to me the first draft of the cover of our next book six and it looks amazing! Mister C said “Wow, Mum it looks awesome! I love the teeth on the cover, they do look really real!” I will provide a sneak peak of the cover in the coming weeks. Hugs from Me and Mister C… 💖

A Word from Mister C…

When home from school one afternoon (earlier last term), Mister C very diligently completed his set homework tasks and then played a session on his school learning apps. Mister C then called out, “I do actually like these apps, Mummy, they are quite fun after all!” Looking over to where Mister C was sitting at his computer desk, I smiled then replied, “Well done, my son.” I saw Mister C making a pizza reading egg (great app!). Mister C then laughed and said, “Look, Mummy, I’m making the best pizza ever, loaded with heaps of pineapple! I bet Hawaiian people would love my pizza; the people who don’t like pizza with pineapple on the top, might think the pizza was really illegal!” Both laughed…

Stay tuned…

For (hopefully) more happier stories to share & some positive updates on our life and family situations post car accident. As my dad often said to me, “Life was never meant to be easy; it’s who and how we navigate the journey with and through that matters the most, in order to get through to the other side.” Finally, another positive note, I recently signed up with our wonderfully professional web-host provider for another three years; so, here’s to lots more blogging to come along… 🙌

Mister C and I live in a rural town in NSW Australia, with Mister C's Dad and his two big sisters. We have an acreage with an old homestead, that we have been renovating over the past five years (a lot of work!). I am a registered nurse working in private nursing in NSW. I enjoy caring for people in our community, it is a very unique area to live. Mister C is now nine years old now, and is in year four at primary school. He loves super-heroes, building bricks ('Lego'), jumping really high on our trampoline at home and playing with our sweet pets. He has a big imagination and dreams a lot about interesting and funny stuff. We have two sweet doggies named 'Rhetti' and 'Niki', many chickens (lots of names there), three beautiful painted finches, named 'Red', 'Robin' & 'Ruby'. We have many wild animals that like to visit on a regular basis, like 'Bluey' the blue tongue lizard, 'Baby Poss', our resident brush tail possum, our family of king parrots, named 'George', 'Mildred' and 'Gilbert', 'Freddy' our resident green frog and family of noisy magpies, named 'Monte', Maggie', 'Carlo and the new twins. Pastimes for me include painting (anything), reading, illustrating, playing board games with Mister C and the girls, and of course writing (lots of writing!). Without children the world would be a quiet place!...

  1. Nice to hear an upbeat blog from our shaken girl. Scary even thinking about the accident, not to mention how much worse it could have been. Good on Tim for stepping up and thanks to Bosses for giving Ingrid ( and Tim) extra time off!

    1. Thanks so much for your comment Granny. Through these tough months I didn’t reply to you on this one- sorry! We love you reading our blogs. Stay happy. Hugs Me and Mister C…💕
