Hiya! It’s Mister C And Me…

Hello! Today’s blog will be a shortened version, due to my left hand still recovering from surgery mid-last month and my dear sister and niece coming to visit us for a few days (is a little exciting). There really isn’t enough time in the day to get everything done, especially with us being in the middle of the school hols too. I am still finding it difficult to type on the computer keyboard (and phone too), as my left palm remains quite sore as the wound begins to heal (is going well though). I was also quite dismayed that my right shoulder procedure (injection) couldn’t go ahead last week. As you may tell, there is a lot going on and having less pain and more movement (hopefully) to my shoulder would have been really appreciated and needed over this time. I know that all good things come to those who wait, but I think that I have been more than patient, waiting for my body to start to recover. Fingers crossed that hopefully in the next coming weeks this may be achievable…

It is hard to believe that today marks a full year since our horrible and quite life-changing car accident. I am so grateful (beyond any words) Flossy and Mister C were not seriously hurt in the accident; however, the after-affects are still ongoing, as we support each other with our mental health and wellbeing over this time. I wanted to take this moment to sincerely thank my Husband, who will always be my rock, the girls and Mister C for your ongoing love and laughter, wonderful family, dear friends and all of the supportive people and groups in my life, helping me to become a new version of myself, including my GP, numerous specialists and surgeons, physio and hydrotherapy groups, our cleaner duo (are the best!), rehab group and CTP group. I don’t know where I would be without all of you- so thankyou from the bottom of my heart! I am sure thankful I am here today to write our blog and be able to share our stories with you.

Yesterday, Husband kindly drove Flossy, Mister C and I (Widy was at work) to the glorious Tulip Top Gardens festival in Hidden Valley (about a forty-minute drive south towards ACT). As many may remember, I was driving Flossy and Mister C to meet Husband at the Tulip Top Gardens this exact day last year, on the Monday public holiday (3rd October 2022). As a part of our recovery, Husband and I decided to attend the festival, by way of assisting in our cycle of recovery, to actually get to the festival without any further incidents and to enjoy the day, one year on. I am not the best passenger in the car (my anxiety sometimes gets the better of me), but I breathed it through driving past the site of our accident, making it safely to our destination (thanks as always Husband). We often playfully tease Husband on how slow he can drive (often below 100kph on the highway), but I do always appreciate his careful driving; we feel safe and calm (most of the time).

I finally wanted to acknowledge our dear Widy, who graduated from high school (year twelve) approximately two weeks ago. We are so super proud of this young lady, who always works hard and is diligent in everything she does. We attended Widy’s wonderful graduation ceremony at the high school, and wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of Widy’s teachers, Principle, career advisors and support staff, for their role in helping Widy to reach her goals and dreams. Woo would have thought starting out as our small tub of butter (all of 630gms) nineteen years ago as a tiny premmie baby, to all grown-up now! We are so proud of you our beautiful Widy and commend you in meeting all of your milestones and beyond. We wish you every success for your HSC coming up shortly and a fabulous formal night to come along in November (with your special friend L.T)- then you’re all done!

Here is another Word From Mister C to give us all a bit of a giggle or two- enjoy…

Widy and Mister C were in the lounge room. Mister C was lying on the floor rug and Widy was sitting on the sofa, with the new soft, grey ‘Ikea’ sofa cover over it. Both were chatting about siblings and families together. Widy said, “Well, I have two half siblings and a a step-sister on my Dad’s side, then you and Flossy here with Mum and Dad.” Mister C nodded his head and replied, “Yes, I have too many sisters. I wish I had a younger brother!” Widy smiled and asked Mister C why he wanted a younger brother. Mister c replied, “So I can have another boy- a brother to play with, and play some of my favourite games I like to play- boy games!” Flossy walked into the lounge room and said, “Oh, no you don’t. They are so very annoying!” All laughed… 🤪

A Word From Mister C…

Early one morning on the weekend (last year), Mister C complained of a sore tooth. I inspected inside Mister C’s mouth and saw part of an old filling had fallen out, leaving a small hole in one of his top baby teeth. I sighed and said, “Does the tooth hurt much, my son?” Mister C nodded his head, ”A little, Mummy. It is hard to chew on it.” I patted Mister C on the head and replied, “How could that filling have come out so quickly? It’s only been a few months since we had it fixed with the dentist. I will have to ring the dentist and make another appointment; remember you may need another needle!” Mister C shook his head and commented, “I’m so brave now, I know what will happen. I can do it now!” Giving Mister C a hug, I replied, “Well done, my son!” Mister C smiled and said, “Well, I do need my teeth to work properly, Mummy. I need to chew on my food and I need my tough teeth. They are strong, but not as strong as ‘Iron Man’ though!”…🦷🪥

Stay tuned…

Due to it still being the school holidays (in our part of the state), along with my left hand slowly recovering and my dear sister coming to visit today, our blog is a shortened version this week. We appreciate you reading our blogs and your understanding over this busy and difficult time. I was also meant to have my right shoulder procedure (injection) last week; all fingers and toes are crossed for a good result in finally having less pain to my shoulder. Our magpie family (Monte and Maggie) had quads a few weeks back (we did initially think triplets), we are super excited to watch the four little baby birds grow up in the nest right next to our house. I feel honoured to have these cheeky birds as friends in our garden. I will endeavour to draw the new additions over the coming weeks and share them on the blog site. If you haven’t yet watched the beautiful movie ‘Penguin Bloom’ starring Naomi Watts, I would highly recommend watching it on a quiet afternoon. Birds are so very special, especially for me, as our bird friends gives me a sense of purpose at present. Me and Mister C will endeavour to make it to our next bookstall coming up in approximately two weeks, as a part of the fabulous Rotary markets held every second Saturday of the month. Hugs to all, Me and Mister C… 🌺🦜

Mister C and I live in a rural town in NSW Australia, with Mister C's Dad and his two big sisters. We have an acreage with an old homestead, that we have been renovating over the past five years (a lot of work!). I am a registered nurse working in private nursing in NSW. I enjoy caring for people in our community, it is a very unique area to live. Mister C is now nine years old now, and is in year four at primary school. He loves super-heroes, building bricks ('Lego'), jumping really high on our trampoline at home and playing with our sweet pets. He has a big imagination and dreams a lot about interesting and funny stuff. We have two sweet doggies named 'Rhetti' and 'Niki', many chickens (lots of names there), three beautiful painted finches, named 'Red', 'Robin' & 'Ruby'. We have many wild animals that like to visit on a regular basis, like 'Bluey' the blue tongue lizard, 'Baby Poss', our resident brush tail possum, our family of king parrots, named 'George', 'Mildred' and 'Gilbert', 'Freddy' our resident green frog and family of noisy magpies, named 'Monte', Maggie', 'Carlo and the new twins. Pastimes for me include painting (anything), reading, illustrating, playing board games with Mister C and the girls, and of course writing (lots of writing!). Without children the world would be a quiet place!...

  1. So good to hear that Ing is on the road to recovery..recent photos have not included a sling! Glad the family is doing well!!

    1. Thanks for your comment, Granny. I am far from recovered, I am still trying to cope with my ongoing pain and issues. I’m tired of wearing the sling, so I left it off that afternoon; but paid for it that night! Hugs Me and Miser C… 💕
