Hi there… It’s Me and Mister C!

Hello… It’s hard to believe, we are now in the middle of February and at the end of week four in the first school term! Both the girls have received their assessment information booklets, for their prospective year and started their first assessment pieces for the term (arrg- time for Mum’s help!). Being Flossy’s first term in high school, the expectations and stress levels were rising; not to mention a few little issues with a couple of friends from school and outside of school too. Mister C (I can report), is loving his new class and his teacher (he is quite pleased a certain ‘disruptive’ student is not in his class this year!). I was able to attend the ‘meet the teacher’ evening at our local school, and had a lovely chat with Mister C’s teacher; who is also the assistant principle (of that stage) at the school. It was great to discuss the curriculum plan and upcoming events of the year, and to also see Mister C’s classroom (unlike last year, where after two weeks of attending the new school, it was closed to parents due to Covid). I felt very welcomed and privileged to attend the session; thank-you to all of the teachers and staff who organised the event.

As I mentioned last blog, poor Flossy had been unwell at home for the first part of last week. Flossy managed to go back to school and was well enough to attend; she had missed some important classes (and her favourite wood work class), but it was best to stay home and try to catch up next week. Unfortunately, now Widy and myself have succumbed to the ‘house of sickness’! Husband commented, “Oh, no good to be sick for your birthday, dear Wife.” I pulled a face at Husband and replied, “Well, it’s quite catching you know (please note- it’s not the Covid bug!). I bet it will be your turn next week!” Husband shrugged his shoulders and then said, “Remember, I don’t get sick!”… I managed to visit a few dear friends in ACT yesterday (only had mild sinusitis at that point), thanks for the hugs, laughs, and smiles (I needed it this week). I I love you all; life would be very boring without a few dear friends to call on (will organise a carport party soon- sounds fun doesn’t it?!) …

No blog following 2018 this week (apologies-never mind I hear you say?); due to the ‘house of sickness’ again! I’m feeling rather sad and sorry for myself (and Widy too), for catching Flossy’s sickness now (after caring for the kids during the last week who were under the weather first). I wonder if it will be Husband’s turn next (oh, that’s right- he never gets flu- sick!) … I made an executive decision this morning, and decided to celebrate my birthday today (who knows what the mood will be like tomorrow?); as my dear sister and niece were due to visit today anyway, after visiting family in ACT and then coming back through to us on their way home (thanks for visiting C & G. M- love you- I did social distance with my bugs to note). I can report, (from Husband and the kids) I received a new wicker washing basket, a new pair of orange kitchen scissors (just what I needed- thanks Husband!), a four pack of lemon ‘ruski’s’ and an antique ‘Delft blue’ (Dutch: Delfts blauw) pouring bottle; and some sick hugs from Widy (that’s okay- we have the same germs) and lovely drawings from Mister C and Flossy (my favourite). Husband had apparently purchased some choc from the local supermarket to give me; but when he got home, it was not in the shopping bag- strange huh? (must have known I was on a diet!) …

Here’s another word from Mister C instead…

I was lying in bed downstairs, when Mister C jumped in for morning hugs. “It’s your birthday tomorrow, Mummy!” He whispered. “I’m sorry you’re not feeling any good. I wish I could give you a present and take your sickness away for you!”… “Oh, thanks my son”, I replied, giving Mister C another hug. “You know, I could use a new nose, so I could breathe better!”… Oh, let me try and find you a new one for your birthday then,” he said, running off upstairs. A few minutes later, Mister C came back into our bedroom carrying a blue plastic peg. “This might help Mummy,” he then said, smiling; ‘If not, it will stop Dad’s horrible snoring at least!”… “I don’t snore, my son,” Dad muttered, as he rolled over in bed. Both laughed quietly…

Here’s a few birthday jokes (just because I can) …

(Compliments from the internet: https://www.rd.com/jokes/birthday/)

Why do we put candles on the top of birthday cakes? Because it’s too hard to put them on the bottom!

What do you always get on your birthday? Another year older!

It’s my wife’s birthday tomorrow…

When I was born, I was so surprised, I didn’t talk for a year and a half…😏

A word from Mister C…

Mister C was rummaging around in his bedroom for several minutes, he then called out, “Where’s my pillow, Mummy? I can’t see it in my room.” … “Not in your room, my son?” I replied; “Is it up your bum?!” I then blurted out giggling, while helping Flossy in the kitchen. “Huh?” Mister C called back, “I know you’re my Mum! Where’s my pillow?” … “Mum said, up your bum!” Flossy then called out, giggling… “Oh no, it’s not!” Mister C cried; “Oh, there it is; it was on my chair the whole time, not up my bum after all!” …

Stay tuned…

For more adventure in 2018 (sounds like lots of fun huh?); we manage to get away down to our favourite watering hole at Mollybook (coast) and Flossy turns the big ten! We have a fun party gathering to celebrate the new kitchen and chook shed renos end of May, with Husband’s birthday early June. Thanks for reading our blogs, without you we wouldn’t have a working blog- so THANKS heaps! 😊

Mister C and I live in a rural town in NSW Australia, with Mister C's Dad and his two big sisters. We have an acreage with an old homestead, that we have been renovating over the past five years (a lot of work!). I am a registered nurse working in private nursing in NSW. I enjoy caring for people in our community, it is a very unique area to live. Mister C is now nine years old now, and is in year four at primary school. He loves super-heroes, building bricks ('Lego'), jumping really high on our trampoline at home and playing with our sweet pets. He has a big imagination and dreams a lot about interesting and funny stuff. We have two sweet doggies named 'Rhetti' and 'Niki', many chickens (lots of names there), three beautiful painted finches, named 'Red', 'Robin' & 'Ruby'. We have many wild animals that like to visit on a regular basis, like 'Bluey' the blue tongue lizard, 'Baby Poss', our resident brush tail possum, our family of king parrots, named 'George', 'Mildred' and 'Gilbert', 'Freddy' our resident green frog and family of noisy magpies, named 'Monte', Maggie', 'Carlo and the new twins. Pastimes for me include painting (anything), reading, illustrating, playing board games with Mister C and the girls, and of course writing (lots of writing!). Without children the world would be a quiet place!...
